Today, I went to Bass Pro Shop in Round Rock, Texas to purchase a gift for my grandson's birthday. While inside the store I encountered a woman who was loosely holding the chain with a grown pit bull dog on the end while she chatted with a friend. I asked 3 store employees and was told as long as the dog is on a chain, it is allowed. Just two days ago, I had 4 grandchildren ages 3,4,7,and 8 with me in the store while we waited for the bowling lanes to open. They were all having a good time in the store checking out the large aquarium and playing with the toys. I hate to think what would have happened had the lady with the pit bull dog been in the store and the dog had become upset as the children were enjoying themselves, just being children. I sincerely doubt the lady with the dog could have restrained him if he had become upset and made a run at the little ones. I do not feel like Bass Pro Shop has the safety of children at heart, especially when there are widespread warnings of the dangers of pit bulls. The privilege of these dog owners has extended to the point of potentially endangering children. This policy needs to be immediately changed. Reason of review: Pit Bull in the store. Preferred solution: Let the company propose a solution.

Too often a lose lose for a business

AUTHOR: voiceofreason - (United States)

Guaranteed if they banned the dogs, the loose leash lady would've posted about thme being a ripoff for not allowing her "service animal" in and in addition she'd have sued them for millions and probably end up winning at least six figures. But you'd be happy.

I also get nervous seeing certain animals in businesses and elsewhere where I'd prefer they not be. Behooves me to simply avoid those places so long as I've no critical need to be there.

At least be real about it

Their solution was that if the dog was on a chain it is okay. So you don't want the company to propose a solution, they already did and you didn't like it. You want them to ban the dogs.  So what type of "Pit Bull" was it? There are actually 3 common Pit Bull breeds.  How do you know it was a Pit Bull?  There are several Bull Dog Breeds that could look similar to the one you saw.

Honestly you have been watching too much TV. Not all breeds are meat eating terrors that are just waiting for a small child to come within 10 feet of them so that they can have an afternoon snack. NOTHING you posted in this report other than your bias against this breed has showed that dog did or was going to do something bad.

By your insuination that they would have gone after your grandkids is quite frankly very short sided and prejusdiced. Are you saying that the day the dog was there that there wasn't a single kid in the store? Did that dog attack any of them?

If you are worried about potentially endangering children, I sure hope you didn't drive your kids there. Because there were a grand total of 39 dog attack fatalities in all of 2017.  There are that many car related faatitlites every few hours.  THINK ABOUT THAT.
