BB&T BRANCH BANKING Has ripped me off for 1010.00 in fees, i received 800.00 in my account on friday March 30th, i paid my bills and got gas and groceries let my daughter use my card for food and gas, i had plenty of money to cover all of this, on April 3rd my social security went into my availible balance and my mortgage went through of course they put the larger mortgage payment through first which was 898.00 it should not have gone through until the next day so all the little charges went through afterwards and since my social security was only in my availible balance i was charged 560.00 in fees which took all of my money then since i did not know this was going to happen more payments went through and the fees are now at 1010.00 that is just fees, i am just sick about this and dont know what to do i contacted them 5 times and finally received a generic email saying they were sorry i was dissatified and they look forward to my continued business, this is just plain wrong and meanwhile since it was social security and i only get paid once a month i have no way to get by the rest of the month, it has been a domino effect i cannot stop what was already going in once i realized this, needless to say i have cancelled my direct deposit and will close my account with them, however i do not see a way of not paying the overdraft which is all fees, they will ruin my credit if i do not pay, if anyone has any suggestions i would appreciate it. ANYONE OUT THERE WHO READS THIS STAY AWAY FROM THESE ROBBERS BECAUSE THAT IS ALL THIS IS PLAIN AND SIMPLE THEFT!!!!

#4 Consumer Suggestion

FIGHT BACK! It's your money.

AUTHOR: Cynthia - (U.S.A.)

Call, write, fax, or email the Commissioner of Banks in your state. BB&T is allowed to hold and post items "at their discretion". If you make a deposit and a withdrawal on the same day, they can withdraw your money before they count your deposit. For example, if you have $800.00 in your account , Deposit $800.00 , and then withdraw $850.00 ----they can take the $800.00 you already had and debit the $850.00 you withdrew, leaving you negative $50.00, then you're charged $35.00 Overdraft fee which now leaves your account at negative $85.00. Last of all they count your deposit of $800.00, which gives you a GRAND total of $715.00. This would be "legal" because they can hold and post items "at their discretion". Help change the laws and regulations, banks should have to deduct and add items in the order they are received.
