Branch Banking & Trust Company, BB&T The Available balance ripoff trick!!!! Calhoun Georgia

My wife and I have been with BB&T Bank for maybe a year, and we have had many problems from them! We have made mistakes on our part a few times and accumulated a few NSF and Over Draft fees! So it is usual that we over look a NSF or Over Draft that we get on our account!

Until this past tuesday!! I had a check, for a few hundred dollars, that I deposited and split between two accounts at 1:50pm and the teller said it would post that day!! They have a sign posted that says anything posted after 2:00pm posts the next business day as with any bank that I have seen!! Later on that day my wife and I want to go to the store, so I stopped by the ATM to check my available balance in my account and the available balance showed that I had a little over a $100, and my available balance prior to my deposit was $20 or $40!!!

So it showed a $100 credit posted to my available balance! Shoot me if I'm wrong, but if you check your available balance and it shows money there after all your other transactions, doesn't that mean that you have money available to spend? So any way, we went to the store and we spent maybe $75!! We went home and checked our account online and noticed a negative balance!!

Items posted totaling about $22, now we only spent $75 at the store!! That only adds up to about $97!! Out of $120, you spend $97, and go negative? I don't think so!!!! There is still about $20 left over!! I called their 800 number to talk to someone and find out what is going on! They(BB&T) were not very helpful!!! They(BB&T) say we didn't have funds available!! They(BB&T) were not counting the check I deposited, it showed posted when I check my account online, but they(BB&T) say I only have the $100 credit, but they(BB&T) were not counting it in my balance! And where is the rest of my deposit? They(BB&T) say that it is floating in the system and not available!!

Finally the next day I called the local BB&T Bank and they said the same thing!! So I just went down there in person and talked to them!! We went back and forth, and they had their print out and it shows my deposit on there, but they still said that it had not posted yet!! Anyway, they agreed to fix it and get it straight!! The next day, they didn't fix it, got more Over Draft fees!! I went back and they (BB&T) said they fixxed it!!! They said I only had about $30 available, and gave me a print out that said I had a $200 available balance!! So I see that and think that they got it fixxed and go use it!! More over draft fees!! The balance says you have money available, and BB&T says you don't even though it shows on the print out!!! I have to go back up there get it fixxed again!! Watch your balances!!!!
