I am writing this report due to the lack of concern Bisk Education has for it's customers. I signed up for an online class through Bisk Education because I am a busy working mother and I believed that it would be a great way for me to obtain a bachelors degree. Boy was I wrong!
First of all, this company charges outragous tuition, bills your credit card without notification , gives customers the runaround when assistance is needed and does not return phone calls or e-mails.
After finishing the first course with Bisk, I decided to register for another session of classes. Dumb!! They billed my credit card three different times for tuition and then withdrew me from my courses without an explanation. They charged me 535.00 for books and materials which so happened to be the wrong ones. I sent the materials back and still have not seen a dime of my 535.00. As if that weren't enough, I am receiving letters from their collection agency stating that I owe them 1053.33. I have proof that they billed me for every penny of tuition that I owed in addition to the materials I sent back.
To sum it all up, I do not owe this company one red cent. In fact, they owe me 535 dollars. This company maybe well known for educating military persons through correspondence, however, if you are an induvidual trying to get a degree this is a major scam! The "academic counselors" are merely sales people.
In my opinion they are there to make the sale and after that if you need assistance forget it! They are only there to charge your credit card. They may be accredited but by the way they handled my situation they seem extremely fly-by-night. Lesson learned, you cannot get a degree from home. It will land you thousands of dollars in debt with nothing to show for it.

it is free to file, you should talk to lwyr about this. and, anything about the contract a lawyer tells me isnt binding because it is fraud. the judge has to look at it. you should do it and go for a default.and also try this arbitration with rip off report. if they dont agree it would not look good if you take them to court in florida. by the way, they have a jury for small claims there. pretty cool.l don't know how
they pushed rip off reports past the first 5 pages of google when you type in bisk education. they
must be using a company, i think. but is this company doing something not kosher.
try rip off report arbitration, the most fair in my opinion. all consumers should get ripoff
revenge, i did and it works

Current student of Saint Leo University

I am nearing completion of degree requirements and never have I been charged a technology fee, its ridiculous, considering that all classes are online and you, as a student are expected to already have the technology at your disposal before enrollment. I have recieved a wonderful education and have learned a lot from my professors. Anyone who wants to know this information, Bisk is no longer associated with Saint Leo University, which tells me a lot of things were messed up but now they are much better. The class format is still online but with the ecollege setup interface, a student can see all of their modules at once instead of the old way of one week at a term and all financial information is all in one place on elion. Yes, tuition is pricey, but you do get what you paid for and btw, financial aid is much better than paying for each term. As for the three charges and withdrawal happening is the three part payment plan that anyone can set up if they have the means to do so. I don't encourage it, though, as financial aid does help a lot of folks that would not be otherwise able to afford college. Withdrawal from class happens when a partial payment for tuition to go through and approved by the bank the card is issued to. Anyhow, that is my nickel's worth of information about this problem. Next time, use financial aid that is available to anyone for the asking by filling out a FAFSA.

Copying of pages in a book then sharing with class?

I just got done with your response about Bisk/UA. While they are no angels, your comment about 4 regional universities and copying of pages, makes no sense, every heard of a copywright? Additionally, why did Kelly from Indiana, re-up if they treated her so bad in the first place??????? This company operates just like a check cashing company or a fitness club, they operate above the law and expect you to honor your commitment. If you sign a contract for a car new or used and it breaksdown you take it to the dealer and point to the warranty, if its under warranty they fix, well you are the product here you are paying to improve yourself. If you will not or can not hang, who's fault is that?????? You should read everything that you sign. I find it funny that the same employees that post all over this board act like they knew nothing about what was being asked off them but could tell you to the penny what they should be paid, and would sccream bloddy murder if there was a payroll issue, mind you they all signed every two weeks for the hours they worked. While Bisk is not the tighest run ship I have ever seen some of the employees are to blame on this one as well, morale is determined by the people, you give up the right to cry about your work environment when you cash your paycheck. So to all the crybabies out there that feel mistreated, grow up, work hard and sacrifice, my guess is the boo whooers on this site are the same group that wants to make 100K a year, drive a benz and work 20 hours a week when they have time. This is the same 20 something crewe that is killing the real estate market by buying up the 400K houses when they made 25K a year and now asking for a bail out. Be accountable.

its a 100% true busk, university alliance is deceptive

employee ofthe company says-
The books are triple what they would cost in the store, as a sales rep I never heard of the term technology fee, "as we were never told to tell students this before they enroll" They have a if they don't ask don't tell type of policy, they change the editions constantly to get you to purchase thier over priced books,
I have attended 4 regionally accredited university and the editions of the books never changed if they did the school photo copied chapters from the teachers book, and supplied it to us for free. because its not the students fault or resposibility to keep up with constantly changing books of an already esptablished course and curiculumn., " Anyways isnt the teachers sylabus and class outline supposed to be already together before the class starts? None of this makes any
sense at all.
Another hook and sinker they reel you in with the books is "is the UA grant": Its bull s**t! You think the 3,000 UA grant is much when you add up 5-600 dollars for books each session. You are screwed into thinking you have to buy the universitys books, they play red light green light with thier editions to keep you on your toes. alot of people buy the books because their afraid. Dont let these people screw you out of you hard earned money. Theyre number 1 profit is book sales. they have a contract with these schools they work with, but theyre biggest income comes from the books.
I am an employee of the company and yes we will try and do or say anything to get you to enroll even if it means lying or sugar coating the truth. i actually resigned today i found somrthing better.

I am a soon-to-be ex-Bisk "student"
AUTHOR: Beverly - (U.S.A.)

Hi there -
I have personally had very GOOD service from Bisk, however I feel that their business practices leave MUCH to be desired so I am taking my business elsewhere, I will mention the place in a moment.
They try to force you to pay them a $120 "technology access" fee even if you do not purchase anything from them at all - a blatant rip-off. (supposedly this might become optional, but I will believe it when I see it.) I realize that they need to make money, but SURELY they are making enough money through the contract with the school???
Not only that but "technology?" That is stretching it.
If I buy nothing from someone, then I expect to pay nothing - plain and simple.
Anyhow, I found out that SUNY (State University of NY) has an online program. I am enrolled and starting in November. Whereas Bisk and Saint Leo University are charging almost $400 a credit hour plus other fees, SUNY is only charging $118 a credit hour. I am sure there will be other fees - there always are no matter what kind of school. Anyway if you are interested, look up SUNY Empire State College Distance Learning on the web and you will find them! (Not only are they less expensive, but there are better options, too.)

I apologize for the situation and that is wrong
AUTHOR: C - (U.S.A.)

Hello! Well, I do not work in the customer service department (or even in the Saint Leo department), but I can give some insight into the company.
As employees of Bisk, we are sales people. That is the bottom line. Bisk provides a service that is needed; it makes attending fine Universities convienent for people who do not have the time to go to a Brick and Mortar campus. As their sales people, we intend to sell customers on the benefits of getting their degrees. The online part sells itself! Tuition and fees are more expensive than going to the local college, but if you had the time wouldn't you go there anyway?
As far as your funds, I apologize for the situation and that is wrong. There is no way for me to justify that. As someone with collection agency knoweledge, you need to photocopy all of your reciepts and invoices and send them via certified mail to the agent with a letter of dispute. It is a real possibility that that end can be handled with one letter. To get a refund, wait 30 days after the disupte to the agent and call the accounting department and let them know of the problem. If it cannot be cleared up, you might consider an attorney to try and help you settle this. (I am not suggesting lawsuits, but sometimes a powerful letter from an attorney will spark the "gears to move" with companies. It generally costs about 100.00 to have one written.)
I don't know if this has been a service to you, but I certianly hope so and earnestly wish you good luck in attaining your degree!
