Everything I was lied about...
1) I was told they would buy back the timeshare for any reason if I did not want it anymore.
2) We were told we can sell it if we don't want it anymore. We now find out it can only be transferred to a family member. Why would I put family through what I am dealing with?
3) I was never told maintenance fees go up every year. As a matter of fact I was told they did not.
4) I am having issues getting the place I want when I want because... I was not informed that people who purchase higher point shares get early access to reserve their vacations first. This makes it literally impossible to take my "dream vacation".
5) This one is sad. The manager of the Bloomington Minnesota office, when we were registering, found out that I wanted to go see Lewis Black live at Mystic Lake Casino. He said, "Oh I can get you tickets for free. I am a platinum card holder for the casino." I tried calling back to see if he got them, only to have him NEVER return my calls and actually hang up on me when I identified who I was and why I was calling. More than once.

I am so mad right now and can not think of the other reasons my wife and I are completely pissed off. Do your research on this company if you do not believe me.

Never Buy Timeshares

AUTHOR: SandraLaw - ()

POSTED: Tuesday, February 25, 2014

The best advice is NEVER buy timeshares anywhere. It is a scam and the so-called timeshare you buy is sold over and over again to other people. It is very difficult to sell your timeshare now and renting isn't in the deal. It will cost you more to buy a timeshare and maintenance fee than to rent a hotel room or a full ownership of a condo. Don't do it.

I hate Bluegreen

AUTHOR: Fyrefighter814 - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Monday, May 12, 2008

I purchased Bluegreen two years ago, after turning momentarily stupid after a pressure sales talk. I had visited Harbour Lights and loved it.

Since then, my maintenance fees have also gone up, although I was told they wouldn't. I have also been unable to sell my shares, even though I paid a Timeshare Sales company to do so. (I haven't received even one response.)

Bluegreen also told me that they would buy my shares back, although I knew ahead of time they would be at a loss. BUT...now they tell me that they no longer do that.

I feel like I have this huge weight around my neck as I am paying for this stupid thing every month, in addition to the inflated maintenance fees once per year.

I would LOVE to get rid of it, even at a small loss. Any ideas?

from across the pond

AUTHOR: Smithiekid1623 - (United Kingdom)

POSTED: Wednesday, April 30, 2008

Leanne,
I have no relations in the US and I am born and bred in England
I work for a UK PLC in the Textile Industry and the only connection that I can make which contains Bluegreen is that I am a colourist and quite often use Blue (&) Green.

Why can you not use you points ?
All BG owners can make a reservation 11 months out .
Only Gold and Silver members can go on the wait list.
I have made many reservations 9 months out for peak times ie School Holidays
infact our holiday to Florida this year 24th May to 7th June was made 9 months out also our trip to SC in July/Aug was booked 8 or 9 months out.

If you want to make a reservation today to go next week then you may be lucky BUT that is not how timeshare works nor in the package holiday trade or any other vacation last minute bookings are only the rooms/Hotels nobody realy wants

If you can not plan ahead then you should have not bought into a points system or in fact any timeshare since the traditional system works on a fixed week, the same fixed week each year.

As for M/F well someone has to maintain the properties and that not only falls on the shareholders of the company but the owners of the points as well, you have to maintain your home so what is the difference, M/F are built into all Hotel rates in any case.

take note of a banner they use to have at the school our kids went to when they were small.

CANT is spelt TRY

so instead of cant use my points take note of the above and try there is no reason at 11 months out that you will be unable to use them the only exception to this will be that you do not own enough points to go where you want to go

The "OWNER' is obviously getting all the weeks of vacations offered.

AUTHOR: Leanne - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Thursday, April 24, 2008

Mr. Mullins has stated he is the owner. Well, then, Mr. Mullins, could you explain why I paid $10000 cash, and continue to pay over $700 a year in dues for vacations that don't exist? Yes, I can roll them into RCI, but only after paying a fee for that too. So, please school me on why I should have to pay another company who by the way, has the properties available, yet Bluegreen does not, when I have invested over $15,000 into nothing? I have been able to get one, yes a single vacation through bluegreen in all of these years. Nothing, and I mean nothing is ever available. Can you tell me why?

I'll tell you why. It is a major scam ripoff, with suave professional sale pushers push these properties down our throat with promises of granduer. This is a phony, get our money, organization, and once they have our money, we are nothing more than a bug on their window. This corporation should be ashamed of themselves and I'm sure that the only people who can take vacations are either shareholders, employees, and of course all of the people reaping the mass amounts of money that us regular folk fork over to you every year.

I work hard for my money, and hard for my vacations, and no one should have the right to take my money, and not give in return, which in legal terms state simply, consideration. It is not returned, and therefore, class action law suits are now in progress. Let's see some more "Happy" vacationers out there. I'd bet my house the chosen few are somehow related to the LLC's of Bluegreen. Shame on you!!

Yes, I am a Happy Preferred Gold owner(44,000 points) with Bluegreen for many years. Not even American ...but Dutch(European). I live in Hoofddorp, The Netherlands. I also have 3 weeks with Marriott. Owners "bomb" the company that company as well and sell out. Check-out eBay and Redweek!
No I dont work for Bluegreen .....There are NO Bluegreen offices in Europe.
I have yet to be exposed to any company worldwide that has a 100% customer satisfaction.

how can samplers get in??

AUTHOR: Tirakotchi - (Aruba)

POSTED: Wednesday, January 30, 2008

Dear madam, sir

I started out as a sampler owner myself. The best choice I ever made!

This is the process I went through:

* Restrictions everywhere!
* The rep clearly stated block-out periods and why: June/July/August and US Holidays(including the day before and after- 3 days total each)
* The sampler contract was read by quality control officer(s) and recorded on all points on which you had to agree or ask questions so that all is clear. You even sign for it!
* 20 out of the over 40 club-resort are offered.
* 3 night minimum stay.

I got to Aruba, Miami & Orlando flying out of Europe on a sampler with just 9000 points. All high demand resorts all year.

I was surprised that being last in line we still got somewhere.
First Preferred Gold...then Preferred Silver...then Charter members and finally samplers.

I don't have the luxury to drive to the resorts like most owners can.
I don't have access to the ultra low cost airlines in the US with prices starting as low as $1 for domestic or even international travel.
Any flight we take out of Europe costs us at least $1000 each!

I am now a full member:
Upgraded my sampler within the year I had and started vacationing anytime/anyplace/any size of accommodation.
* set up a mortgage.
*My $895(100%) was used as part of the down payment. My try-out stays were free! How affordable is that?
* The few left over points from the sampler were transferred to the full ownership.
*The price of the year before for the full ownership was guaranteed in a letter and honored. I saved over $2000.
* All of the charter benefits and more were 'unleashed'
* All club-resorts can be reserved up to 48hrs prior to arrival based on availability.
* Like many other time shares I can use the Worldwide travel network.
* If the club is full then I just exchange with RCI or II.
* I now see where my $$ go and re-use them through points.

When you use expedia....isn't it all based on availability?
Can you get to Aruba for $895 in a 4 star resort with 4 people?

I sold my other time-share and got over half of my $$ back after going to places I would have NEVER seen if I had to pay expedia. My children have something valuable for life!
Does travelocity or any hotel with rooms with 2 double beds and the coffee maker in the bathroom & maybe a small fridge with stuff highly overpriced give you back some of your $$ when you stop traveling??
At least you can sell your time-share and get back something.

Any time-share has at least a kitchenette so you can have breakfast indoors without changing to have breakfast outside and pay even more.

Count the savings and please don't compare apples with oranges. If you vacation at motel 6 or camping sites please don't compare.
If you want to throw away your $$ so that hotel owners have a better life... go ahead. You will have nothing to show for ...they are happy with your choice.

You are smart enough to know that everything in life goes up in price. Did you buy your car or house and never paid anything on increasing maintenance after?

If you can't dance yet please ask for help ...don't just say the music 'sucks'.
The program is not for everyone.

Willing to help.

Join the Yahoo Bluegreen group

AUTHOR: Smithiekid1623 - (United Kingdom)

POSTED: Tuesday, November 20, 2007

Hi,
may I make the following suggestion that you join the Bluegreen group on Yahoo . There are many on there that can give you good advice on how to get the most out of your points.
Yes you were lied to Bluegreen do not buy back but you are wrong in that you can not sell them but again it is like buying a new car then getting rid of it you will not get what you paid for it the best you will get is $0.75 per point.
How many points do you have?
You can borrow points from next year if you prepay the m/f .
If you only have a small number of points avoid the peak periods and holidays try to use them off peak I take it that you are trying to book a trip that is less than 7 nights and hence can only use the 5 month window.
Common sence must have told you that the m/f would go up since your own m/f for your home ie insurance property tax goes up each year
Please take my advice and join the group and ask all the questions you need answers to and at the end of the day if you still want to get rid then there are members who will help you to sell them
regards
Phillip
