I was fortunate enough to see the writing on the wall with regards to working for Pam Gray. I was able to walk out after only 3 weeks employment.

On my first day as Sales Manager I found paperwork that confirmed my predecessor lasted only three weeks. I was told the reason he left was he was offered his old job back and gave his resignation to Bonaventure with tears in his eyes. I have to smile when I think of this lie now.

Pam Gray gave a presentation at our "training" where she said she gained weight when housing rental stats were low so we needed to pump up the rentals so she could lose weight.

In addition to overeating I believe Ms. Gray is also addicted to drama. I belive she could not survive in a professional setting where success was consistent and operations were running smoothly.

If you are reading this and thinking of working there I am sure you will think twice about that. If you have aging loved ones and are doing your due dilligence before placing them in a retirement community I am also sure you will think twice about that.

I must assume that Pam's boss has an agenda other than making money since he has allowed this woman to run the reputation of the company into the ground and also run off qualified staff. I know it costs money to employ to staff and with the high turnover there can only be two reasons: incompetent hiring or incompetent managing.

Pam demanded I harass prospective tenants, disregarding the process of relationship development and
the use of professional sales tecniques. As a professional with extensive experience working with and selling to seniors and their families I immediately recognized the impossibility of succeeding under such spectacularly dysfunctional "leadership" and walked out without looking back.

How our residents and families actually feel about Bonaventure

AUTHOR: Anonymous - (United States of America)

POSTED: Monday, March 05, 2012

This is a testimonial from a resident's family member; written by them and unedited by us (Bonaventure).

I was searching for the perfect retirement facility for my mother, and on the recommendation of the staff at her doctors office, I went to visit

Bonaventure.  When walking through the door, I got the impression of entering a well-appointed, upscale hotel.  As I approached the reception desk, I was greeted by a very pleasant young lady, who made me feel welcome and gave me her complete attention.  She arranged for management personnel to give me a tour of the facility.  As I waited, I noticed that she was very accommodating, answering the questions and requests of residents approaching her desk.  This, in my mind, was a plus.

Within a few minutes, I was greeted by the manager who would conduct our tour.  Leaving the lobby, going toward the dining area I faced a wall of tall windows looking out over a very pleasant, neatly landscaped lawn, complete with gardens and a variety of flowers andbushes.  It had the feel of a lovely park.  The tables in the dining room were
attractively set, and residents were starting to drift in for lunch.  I noticed that servers were on hand to take food orders from the menu of the day, and was told that the food is planned and prepared by their own chefs.  Later, I was served a complimentary meal, and the food was excellent.

The apartments, opening off of large, well lit and tastefully decorated corridors, were attractive and furnished with choice pieces from the residents homes, identifying the personality of the person residing there.  With large windows looking out on the lawns, each apartment was spacious, with freshly painted walls in soft colors making them very inviting.  In each, there was a mall kitchenette, so that meals or snacks could be enjoyed without going to the formal dining areas, a pleasant sitting area, bedroom and well-appointed bathroom.

There were all of the amenities of a large hotel: a library, exercise center, craft area, beauty shop and a little post office. There was also a snack shop with fresh made popcorn, cookies, coffee, ice cream, and soft drinks available all day long.  Everything a resident would need or desire without ever leaving home!

I knew that this would be the place for my mother to reside.  A place where I would feel comfortable know that SHE was comfortable.

The final and most important aspect of Bonaventure is the pleasant and helpful staff.  All of the aids are very loving and attentive, making a resident feel welcome and special.  They are always ready to listen to requests from the family members of residents, and take suggestions on how their individual needs can be addressed.  Above all, cleanliness was the deciding factor.   Bonaventure is spotless!

Over all, a tour of Bonaventure made me decide that this was the perfect place for my mother to reside.  I could hardly wait to bring my siblings down for a tour of their own.

We now feel that she receives excellent care in a facility that is warm and friendly, giving her an attractive, alternate home where she gets the care that she needs.
