On 8/31/07, I went to Capitol Kia. I found a Kia Spectra in which I really liked and wanted to work the numbers with. In doing so they came back with 15% interest, I found that unacceptable since I have about a 700 credit score. Therefore payments would not match my budget. I left to take another family member to work. I was then called on my cell phone by Elliott to please come back and that he was going to make the deal work. By then I had reconsidered my budget and decided to purchase the advertised Kia Rio in newspapers as well as on the television for $7,900.

I understood that it was going to be the very basic model with no extended features. (i.e. no air conditioning, power steering, automatic windows, etc). Then the general manager Chris came out to let us know that he would still like to sell me the original car, however I declined and was still interested in the Kia Rio. Chris seemed to get very agitated, and left the room. Chris came back a few minutes later to tell me there were stipulations upon purchasing that particular advertised car. In which there are absolutely no stipulation mentioned on the Capitol Kia commercials or listed in the Capitol Kia ad in the newspaper.

I asked what they entailed and he said "you could only purchase that car if you were in the military, or a current student". I then asked what his sell price would be to a buyer not meeting those requirements? He stated that the price would be $9,500. I still agreed, and Chris once again left the room, I thought to work the numbers, however he only walked about five steps turning around to let my friend and I know that he decided he would not sell me a vehicle and asked my friend and I to leave.

I believe all should know how very unprofessional that was.

#2 Consumer Comment

He did you a big favor

This salesman did you a really big favor. First of all a KIA Rio is not even worth the $7900 let alone $9500. Run don't walk away from that KIA dealership.

#1 Consumer Suggestion

they fired you

AUTHOR: John - (U.S.A.)

You tried to take advantage of their rediculous ad by not playing along with their rules. You tried to have your cake and eat it too. Common sense prevailed. They aren't in the business of losing money. Of course they showed you the door. If you want to take advantage of the ad deal, you have to take the other stuff that goes with it.
