An agent for Central Payment Corp. by the name of Norris Broadway, visited my store and called me more times than I can remember. He gave me rates that were hard to refuse.

He said he was authorized to pay the $250 early termination to my previous processing company. I was also told the $195 application fee would be withdrawn from my account at pennies a day.

The biggest draw was the month to month contract, not only for the processing but also for the credit card machine. I told him I had 2 machines and didn't need another. Since it was month to month, so I thought, I agreed and signed the application.

He told me someone from the main office would call to confirm our agreement and I should say "yes" to every question they asked so that the account would be approved. He then came back with another application form and asked me to sign it again and he would enter the lower rates. I never received a copy of the second contract.

He also said he would come back to set up the machine as soon as it arrived. That was the last time I heard from him. He never showed up to set up the machine. He never paid the $250 early termination fee and the $195 flew out of my account in one lump sum.

I was being charged double the amount I was quoted for the lease of the machine. I tried calling him for weeks with no reply. He was to pick up my old machine, have it "scrubbed"(wiped clean) and send it back for me. He was to send the $250 check and, after it was received, my old account would be closed.

Due to Norris Broadway, Central Payment Corp. and all their promises/lies, I am paying monthly statement fees and machine leasing fees to two companies.

I called Central Payment and told them what happened. They said there wasn't anything they could do. They would agree to the month to month contract and let me terminate my account with them, however, the $250 early termination fee for my prior processing company was my problem. I told them to take back their machine. I was told "no problem" but I'd still have to make the lease payments for the next 4 years or pay $3,000 to purchase the machine.

I signed a contract that stated month to month for processing and machine leasing. They will agree to terminate the processing but not the lease. Not only was I not reimbursed the $250, the $195 check he promised to deliver but nor did I receive ANY of the rates agreed upon for my account or lease. Evidently, Norris Broadway later made notations on my application that I never saw.

I went to other merchants in my neighborhood and found out Norris Broadway from Central Payment Corp. hoodwinked them also. It was just by luck that I came upon this website because we were going to see exactly how many others were scammed and find out if a class-action suit was relevant.

sorry to hear about your problems but your agent is the person to blame

After seeing two different reports on Central Payment I feel the need to give my opinion. The first report some one claimed that CPC is a "boiler room" operation and that this is some kind of scheme with 100% commission...

To him i simply respond try looking for an outside sales job.... Quite simply this is how it works unless you have a quota to meet and have lots of sales experience then you might be able to get a salary not to mention that you earn a residual income that grows with your success clearly you do not have what it takes to be successful in this business... Secondly CPC does have the ability to quote the lowest rates in the industry just like many of its competitors who operate on the same level... one thing that has always been "pushed" upon me as an agent is to be honest and be myself which ironically just about every sale ive made the person has told me they chose myself to do their processing because of those very things....

In this industry the agent has a lot of control over equipment costs, rates, contract, etc. The lady who posted to having a $195 app. fee that was supposed to be pennies a day and have a month to month contract im sorry you had a bad experience but your agent was simply not up to par... however just try to find me one merchant service company that hasnt had issues like this come up before with a client (including the banks, because a lot of people are under the impression that by proccessing with the bank you can do no wrong when in most cases your bank is referring you to a 3rd party company) and i think you will realize that things like this can happen to everybody....

I firmly believe that it is up to the agent just like in any other sales related industry to be honest and informed and keep their customers informed as well.... and after being with CPC for some time now i can say that i have NEVER had a client cancel or switch companies and i havent even sold or leased a piece of equipment other than the free terminals we offer....

Central Payment responds quickly to Ripoff Report

I am the victim of the Norris Broadway/Central payment ripoff. After notifying Central Payment, via email, that I had posted this report, I received phone calls from management who wanted to clear up the matter. I thanked them for their relatively quick response. (However, where were they when I needed them prior to the countless hours spent closing bank accounts, re-opening accounts, numerous phone calls updating vendors with new account info, etc.). Nevertheless, they refunded a portion of what I had been overcharged and allowed me to break the rental lease. Norris Broadway is no longer affiliated with Central Payment and Ripoff Report DOES get a response.
