I   received  a  discount  from  CenturyLink   for  a  24  month  commitment.  The  contract  was  done  over  the  phone  and  I  was  told  that  the  price  would  not  change  for  24  months.

After  several  months  I  fond  a  $ .99   "cost  recovery  fee"  on  my  bill  which  I  disputed  because  I  had  not  agreed  to  this  bogus  "fee".   A  commitment  has  to  come  from  both  sides  and  CenturyLink  committed  to  provide  service  for  24  months  for  a  fixed  amount.    A  "cost  recovery  fee"  is  absolute  nonsense  because  the  cost  of  doing  business  is  supposed  to be  included  in the  price  for  a  service.  it  would  be  the  same  if  McDonalds  would  add  a  "cost  recovery  fee"  to  the  price  of  a  hamburger  for  what  they  have  to pay  to the  janitor  for  cleaning their  restrooms.

After  I  disputed  the  $ .99  fee  and  took  this  amount  off  from their  bill  they  started  adding  $ 6,-  "late  fees"  and  interest  to  my  bills.  After  i  filed  a  complaint  with  the  AG  they  disconnected  my  line,  I   made  several  calls  from  my  cell   phone  and  finally  they  sent  out  a  technician  who  showed  up  the  next  day  saying  that  he  was  not  qualified  to  fix  the  problem.  he  promised  that  someone  else  would  come  but  it  didn't  happen.   After  several  days  and  numerous  calls  from  my  cell  phone  (wasting  my  prepaid  minutes)  they  finally  send  out  a  qualified  technician  to  reconnect  my  line.

Again,  I  took  some  money  off  from  the  next  bill  I  received  for  the  days  without  service.  I  explained  to  them  that  I  would  not  pay  for  a  service  which  I  didn't  receive  but  they  never  responded.
