All these people who are crying about their car getting reposessed need to grow up and learn to manage their finances.

That's a problem with Americans in general, you idiots finance everything, and when you can't pay it off, and you get sued, or your car gets taken away, you cry like the babies you are.

Why can't you live within your means? It means that if you can't afford to buy a car with cash, then you shouldn't finance one. It took me 2 years of saving to buy a new car with cash, but you know what, i own it in full. I spent a lot to buy it, but there's no interest or finance charges, and I don't have to deal with the financing company every month to make up an excuse as to why my payment is late. No, I am not rich either. I always bought a used car, with cash. Something cheap, to get me to and from work. Yeah it sucked driving a used clunker, but at least I owned it free and clear.

For those people who insist on financing a car...

1) You have no excuse for making a payment late. Every bank, credit union, and financing company accepts payments by phone, online payments, and some even accept payments by Western Union.

2) If you are getting an interest rate over 9%, then maybe you need to do something to clear your credit before you make the purchase.

3) If you live paycheck to paycheck, then maybe getting a car is not for you.

It's not fun, but taking a bus and having no debt is a lot better than owning a car that is hard to pay for...

WELL...AS A MATTER OF FACT...

AUTHOR: Billcoll01 - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Sunday, February 17, 2008

I DO CREDIT COUNSELING FOR A LIVING. BEFORE THAT, I WAS A DEBT COLLECTOR FOR 12YRS. AS YOU COULD IMAGINE, I HAVE COME IN CONTACT WITH A LOT OF DISTRESSED CONSUMERS. A LOT OF BAD DEBT COMES FROM NOT ASSESSING ONES SITUATION BEFORE MAKING SPENDING CHOICES. SOME PEOPLE DO FALL INTO LEGIT SITUATIONS, BUT HELP IS SPOILED BY THE ONES THAT DECIDE TO BAIL FOR LESS THAN HONORABLE REASONS OR THE ONES THAT FINANCE A PRODUCT WITHOUT 1ST RESEARCHING PRICES & INTEREST RATES & THOSE THAT LET FAMILY & FRIENDS GET AWAY WITH FRAUD USING THEIR CREDIT ACCOUNTS THEN DENYING RESPONSIBILTY. AT THE SAME TIME THEY REFUSE TO PRESS CHARGES & REFUSE TO PAY.

OVER THE YEARS, I HAVE BEEN TAKEN IN BY BY SOB STORIES THAT TURN OUT IN THE END, TO HAVE BEEN COMPLETE BS. THAT IS WHY I LEFT DEBT COLLECTING. I GOT TIRED OF DEALING WITH TRYING TO GET PEOPLE TO DO THE RIGHT THING & AT THE SAME TIME, TRYING TO FIGURE OUT WHO WAS REALLY IN A HARDSHIP & WHO WAS FEEDING ME A LINE OF BULL. NOW, I ONLY HAVE TO DEAL WITH THE ONES THAT WANT TO DO THE RIGHT THINGS OR HAVE REALLY BEEN IN A HARDSHIP. TJ, IT SOUNDS LIKE YOU MAY NEED TO TALK TO A FINANCIAL COUNSELOR. I ALSO SENSE(ALTHOUGH I DONT KNOW YOU)A BIT OF DEPRESSION THAT YOU MAY WANT TO DEAL WITH ALSO. GOOD LUCK

COMPLETELY JUDGEMENTAL AND OVERLY GENERAL

AUTHOR: Tj - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Thursday, February 14, 2008

To make a statement such as the one above, shows, not only no compassion for people who genuinely have hardship, but also an extremely self-righteous attitude. If you are paying all of your bills, and / or have no debt, why do you really care what is going on with other folks? It is a myth, a MYTH that individuals struggling for whatever reason with their financial obligations, cause interest rates to rise, or that taxpayers end up paying their delinquent, past due, or charged off consumer debt. It really affects anyone else VERY LITTLE, but the individual who for whatever reason can not pay their debt.

In today's economy, many people are laid off, through no fault of their own. Where when they took the obligation, they were comfortable with the payments, and felt secure, they would be able to meet said obligation(s). Then, the company went out of business, or they got divorced (and now have alimony, childsupport or court costs, and only ONE income where as before both partners may have been working and sharing obligations), become severely disabled, or for any number of reasons no longer bringing in the amount of income that they did before. It doesn't mean they are a deadbeat, or skipping out on a debt.

In fact, MANY people (several of my neighbors among them) have circumstances beyond their control (such as a death of a wage earner???) and are struggling to keep a roof over their head, and families fed. They live on what savings they have, trying to find another job, or better paying one, help from family and friends who have their own issues, and not incurr more debt, or late fees.

Unfortunately, creditors are becoming increasingly uncooperative, and less and less willing to work with their customers to help them catch up, or restructure leases, or loan agreements, so hat the customer can continue to pay something toward their debt, until they are able to catch up, and get back on track. Most people trying to go this route, are responsible people that for whatever reason had a tough situation. Many of these have had spotless, or near spotless credit reports until something went wrong. IT HAPPENS.

I don't know anyone who owns a home, who's not had to have a mortgage, who could plunk down, 80,90, 100 or 200K for ahome in cash the day of the closing -- so when these folks get laid off, or like me, become disabled from serving overseas, and no longer can work, and are waiting for VA disability benefits to kick in, we're "deadbeats" who can't handle our finances???

Until my injuries, I was earning over 60K a year, plus special pay, and paid cash for most everything but my house, and car. Rarely used credit cards, but try to pay for a mortgage and car, on less than 1/6 of that -- when the savings are gone, they are gone. Plus no longer earning money. I'm not the only one.

I have always paid my debts. But now,I can't, and need help, and there is none out there. So please, save your judgemental attitude. You don't know people, you don't know life, apparently, and if you're so perfect, you should go counsel others on how to be as perfect as you.

HE IS MOSTLY ON POINT!

AUTHOR: Billcoll01 - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Wednesday, January 16, 2008

THE PROBLEM LIES WITH THE FACT THAT THERE IS NO EDUCATION IN THE SCHOOL SYSTEM ABOUT CREDIT & PARENTS NO LONGER TEACH THEIR CHILDREN ABOUT RESPONSIBLE BORROWING & PURCHASING. AS A COLLECTOR, I USED TO SEE A LOT OF CREDIT REPORTS & WHAT I NOTICED WAS THAT OF THE ONES THAT CLAIMED POOR AFTER EXPENSES MANY HAD AUTO LOANS OF AS MUCH AS 30K WITH PAYMENTS OF 400-600MO! MANY OF THESE PEOPLE SAY THAT THEY MADE THAT BIG OF A PURCHASE BASED ON OVERTIME THAT DRIED UP. I SEE A LOT OF PEOPLE ON HERE COMPLAIN ABOUT A CAR THEY BOUGHT WERE THEY A. AGREED TO THE PRICE B. THE INTEREST RATE C. THE PAYMENT D. ANY WARRANTY THAT IS OFFERED. THEY FEEL THEY WERE TAKEN ADVANTAGE OF ON THE PRICE, ALTHOUGH THEY DIDNT NEGOTIATE OR SIMPLY WALK OUT & GO SOMEWHERE ELSE!

WHY YOU ASK? WELL, THESE PEOPLE WAIT UNTIL THEY HAVE ALREADY SIGNED THE PAPERS & AGREED TO THE TERMS BEFORE THEY GO HOME & RESEARCH THE PRODUCT! THEY HAVE NO IDEA THEY MADE A BAD DEAL UNTIL ITS TOO LATE! THEN THEY COMPLAIN ABOUT THE INTEREST RATE, AGAIN THEY WERE TAKEN ADVANTAGE OF. WHY SHOULD A "FEW" MISTAKES BE HELD AGAINST THEM? THE SAME REASON THAT THEIR "FEW" MISTAKES SHOULDNT BE HELD AGAINST THE CONSUMER THAT DIDNT MAKE THOSE MISTAKES! THEN THEY COMPLAIN ABOUT THE PAYMENT. HOW DARE THE LENDER EXPECT A PAYMENT ON OR BEFORE THE DUE DATE & HOW DARE THEY CHARGE THE LATE FEE THAT THE BORROWER AGREED TO! FINALLY, THEY COMPLAIN THAT THEIR "NEW" USED VEHICLE THAT HAS ABOUT 100K TO 150K MILES ON IT IS IN THE SHOP.

HOW DARE THE DEALERSHIP FORCE ME TO ACCEPT THE VEHICLE AS IS. THE MORGAGE CRUNCH GOES MUCH THE SAME WAY. PEOPLE TOOK THE TEASER RATES FOR 2-5YRS WITH ADJUSTABLE AFTER THAT. THAT 'GO TO" RATE HASNT HASNT GONE UP MORE THAN 2-3 POINTS SINCE THOSE LOANS WERE CREATED & IT IS VERY EASY WITH THE INTERNET TO FOLLOW THEM ON A MONTHY BASIS. THE PROBLEM IS PEOPLE GOT COMFORTABLE WITH THE LOW PAYMENTS FOR SEVERAL YEARS WHILE CONTINUING TO BORROW MORE MONEY FOR OTHER THINGS SO THAT WHEN THE MORTGAGE RESETS, THEY ARE COMPLETELY UNPREPARED TO HANDLE THE NEW PAYMENT. BUT, WHAT DO YOU EXPECT FROM A GROUP OF PEOPLE THAT HAVE MADE A "FEW MISTAKES" IN THE PAST? NOW BECAUSE OF A FEW DIPSH!TS, SELF EMPLOYED INDIVIUALS SUCH AS MYSELF NOW HAVE A HARDER TIME GETTING INTO A NEW LOAN.

BUT DONT WORRY, ITS ALL THE LENDERS FAULT JUST LIKE THE AUTO LOANS HOW DARE THE LENDERS ASSUME THEY WERE DEALING WITH GROWN ADULTS THAT ARE CAPABLE OF DEALING WITH A TEASER RATE! OF COURSE, THEY COULD HAVE REMINDED THEM, RIGHT? OH YEAH, THATS RIGHT, SUBPRIME BORROWERS CONSIDER REMINDERS AS HARRASSMENT AS WE SEE CONSTANTLY ON ROR! SO, SUBPRIME BORROWERS, THANKS AGAIN FOR PROVING THAT COMPANIES LIKE RAC & DRIVETIME HAVE TO STAY ON YOU TO MAKE SURE YOU DO WHAT YOU HAVE TO DO!

Naivety, livin' in the USA.

AUTHOR: Scott - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Wednesday, January 16, 2008

Realize that many millions of people live in areas without public transportation. Financial conditions also change for people for reasons beyond their control.

I do agree that many people live well beyond their means, however, to blatantly generalize as this author does, is to minimize a real problem. Witness the current loan fiasco taking homes, bankrupting working people, and sinking financial institutions.

Where is your compassion?

Generalization..

AUTHOR: John - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Friday, January 12, 2007

The behavior you are griping about is not limited to Americans. In fact, I bet in any industrialized country with a capitalistic economy there is a segment of the population that is up it's eyeballs in debt. And I would wager there is a subgroup in that segment that whines about it. Regardless of its geography.

Why would you direct your post toward Americans only?
