Thank you for allowing me to have a say on Rip-Off Report.
Account Solutions Group buys credit accounts from Household Retail Services. My account was sold to them without my being contacted first.
This is a group of brash, arrogant, extremely rude young men. I prefer to do business, in a business-like manner. When I speak, they cut me off. They threaten me. They laugh in my face. I have never before been treated in such a manner. It was demeaning. I am humilated. And I have felt powerless to do anything about it.
Note: They NEVER contact me by mail. Phone Only.
Thank you for allowing me to speak.

I really don't see how that was a helpful "suggestion." Please do feel more than respond with further information supporting it's "helpfulness."
Obviously, the OP knows its their bill. Obviously if they COULD pay the bill, they would. No one purposefully sets out to go into debt. No one purposefully sets out to damage their credit. I would have thought that would be common sense ... perhaps I was wrong?
In any case, not paying one's bills is NOT fraud. Fraud is a CRIMINAL offense -- one punishable by fines, incarceration and other penalties. Failure to pay debts ceased to be a criminal offense roughly around the same time that Debtor's Prisons were abolished. :)
HTH!

Here's a simple solution....

PAY YOUR BILLS!!! This will avoid any collection calls. You ripped off the creditor by not paying what you owed. Stop trying to pass the buck and live within your means.

I really am glad YOUR experiences with TSG have been better than mine.
Understand, I do not share in your positive experiences with them.
Lucky for me, a new organization has taken over this particular account and since then it's been very professional and really quite pleasant.
You can quibble whether TSG owned my account or not, doesn't really matter. They treated me very poorly and I'll keep that in mind in the future.
Thanks for my 15 minutes!

ASG is not abusive.

As mentioned before, ASG does not own any of the debt that it collects on, it is a third-party agency. I can also say that there is not this huge amount of pressure to collect a ton of money, and I have not seen anyone fired for not making their goals. Furthermore collectors are not in any way encouraged to be rude to customers. In fact I have seen other collectors reprimanded for being rude or disrespectful.
As for why you didn't receive any notices, the only reason for that would be if you didn't update your address because those notices are automatically sent out.
I have been in debt in the past, and I have been insulted by other collection agencies to the point that until I had the money to settle my debts I started screening all of my calls. I originally took this job just out of necessity, but there is no way I would stay if ASG were the sort of agency that you are making it out to be.

Getting Facts Straight

Craig,
As an ex-employee of ASG, I can tell you that you are wrong. Keep in mind that I was VERY dissatisfied with working for ASG after 6 months of employment and have moved onto a much higher paying, respectful environment.
ASG does NOT buy any debts. Companies (Capital One, Household, Target, etc) transfer accounts to ASG to try and collect on. While some collection agencies DO buy debt, ASG does not. ASG collects a percentage of whatever is collected, usually around 30%.
In addition, ASG, as well as all collection agencies, is required by law to send out a notice validating the debt to you. Simple as that. It is an automatic process and the computer prints them out. If you didn't receive it, it is possible they had an old address, because all of your location info comes directly from the original creditor.
Like I said, I am no longer working there. Employees are put under a HUGE amount of pressure to collect money, and if they don't, they are fired. I have no doubt that collectors were rude to you, we were encouraged to be (another reason why I left). Living in Western New York, employment opportunities are slim-pickings, and unfortunately often a collection agency is the only answer, there are tons of them here.
Read up on FDCPA laws and know your rights. If someone is harassing to you, file a complaint with the FTC. Best thing to do is to probably try and resolve whatever debt you have so you can sever your ties with the company. Best of Luck!

Get your facts straight? Why yes, that is helpful. Thanks for offering to assest me with doing business with your company.
As I said brash and rude. And I have NOT been contacted by mail. Not once. Not ever.
