A few months ago, I purchased the Perfect Website Creator made by COSMI Corporation and sold by Best Buy. I wanted to build an e-commerce website to sell few of my products through the internet. Soon, and to my disappointment, I found out the software was not equipped to produce any e-commerce website, but rather Home Pages that one can easily produce using, for example, AOL free programs. The software was not only useless for my purpose, but quite difficult to use. I attempted to get some technical help, but the help listed inside the software was associated with another company called CoffeeCup. When attempting to solicit technical support, I was asked to open an account, as the technical support was provided for a monthly fee.
I have tried to return the software to Best Buy but they did not want to refund my money.
A few days ago, I used their software to build a Landing Page for an existing Yahoo e-commerce website. To my surprise, even the Yahoo technicians could not open nor could use the file, as COSMI Corporation made it intentionally so that whatever website one builds will only work if submitted through COSMI Corporation for huge fees.
Here is the response from the Yahoo Technicians:
"Since you have created your landing page with a third party software COSMI/Coffeecup, we are unable to execute it at our end. This indicates that this landing page is system specific. That is if some you may be able to execute it on your system, it is not necessary that it will be accessible by your prospective customers as well." I am surprised COSMI CORPORATION is allowed to sell such self purpose serving software. I am surprised Best Buy will sell their crap, and that NetZero and MicroSoft will allow this rip-off company to use their logo on the COSMI software boxes, to help COSMI gain consumer credibility.
