Received information concerning a pre-qualified credit card, with a low interest rate.  Applied for the card and it was received with a $300.00 limit.  Within 24 hours, I received a statement that indicated I owed $100.00 ... on a $300 limit and that payment was due within 2 weeks.  I had not used the card, the entire $100 charge on the account were various fees charged by the company.

No where in their literature received did it indcate this would happen.  I cancelled the card and am still awaiting confirmation that my account has been credited for the services fees charged.  I find this to be an outrageous practice and one that will catch unsuspecting individuals into getting a card to try and build their credit, but automatically places them in a hole before the card is even used.

Terms and conditions clearly visable

When you sign up for this card, the terms and conditions are right in the literature in bold letters. This is a 'rebuilding credit' type card used to get you started on rebuilding your credit when you can't qualify for other normal prime type credit cards.

If you cancel it, you need to do it right away and in writing so that the initial charges can be removed and your card cancelled. If you don't do it right away, then you are responsible for the charges. These are one time fees to set up your account. In addition to the one type fees, there is also an annual fee charged but it is payable 1/12th each month.

Most people that are actively working on improving their credit get this card for a short time until they can qualify for a prime card. Short time means up to a year or two. This is not meant to be a card you keep long term.

No, I don't work for the credit card company.
