I am so sick and tired of having to call Cricket and find out why my bill is wrong! It is a pre-paid plan it should be the same fee every month!

I called today to find out what the Pro-rated "Change Service" was for on both of my lines, I was told that I called in on August 1st and requested the internet on my phones.....I never flippen called or ask for that service.

So in addition to the "Change Service" pro-rated fee they also charged me $5.00 a line for the Mobile Data Service, all together we are talking a total of $27.42 in extra charges. I also don't get that if I did asked for the change in service on both lines on the same day...WHY is the Pro-rated fee different on each phone?
I know that $27.42 may not seem like alot, but the reason I went with the Cricket phones was so that I knew the phone bills would be the same every month.

I am also extremely upset that they are stating that I called and requested this change, & when I asked what time did I call they said "our system doesn't log the time. I NEVER CALLED!!!!!!! I was in appointments that day! I am deeply concerned for the safety of my account.

I might also mention that the rebate took forever and I had to send information twice because they "LOST" the 1st one. THANK GOD I keep copies of everything.

I am also appauled that the CSR's get away with talking to customers the way they do. I would ge fired! I called in telling her that I never authorized the change to my account and that it was not a service that I wanted and she said I still have to pay for it even though it wasn't at my request, I was so upset! To top it all off then she asked "do you want the internet removed or what?" DUH!!!!!! I mean are we speaking the same language here or what? I swear to god if I didn't have teenagers I would throw these phones thru the front of their local store window!

#1 UPDATE EX-employee responds

I hope this helps explain some things.....

I'm sorry if you were treated rudely by Cricket reps. When I used to work in their call center, the group I worked with were not that way. Believe me, those who treat customers rudely are dealt with quite harshly....Cricket doesn't like that.

As for your "billing errors", I might be able to explain a few things. First of all, Cricket is NOT a "pre-paid" plan. To be exact, Cricket functions on "pre-pay" billing, which means that you pay for your service BEFORE you use it. "Pre-paid" would mean that it's like a pre-paid phone card that tracks per-minute usage, which Cricket does NOT have since it has unlimited calling within its service area. Also, depending on how long you've had service with Cricket, you may actually have "post-pay" billing in which you pay for service AFTER you use it (like your electricity or landline telephone bill). If I'm not mistaken, accounts created after Summer 2005 no longer have post-pay billing. Don't quote me on that though....

As for the "Internet" being added to your phone, there is a good chance that you, or the person who has the other phone on your Cricket account, has called in to add the "Internet" (actually, it's officially called "Mobile Web") on your account, since it IS a joint account. Since both phones are in your name, as long as other "phone holder" calls in and can verify your personal information (name, address, birthdate, etc.), they can make whatever changes they please because they're saying that THEY ARE YOU!! This could almost be considered to be identity theft in a way since someone else is posing as you.

In regards to the time something is changed on an account, the CSRs *ARE* able to see that information, including the day AND time. Unfortunately, if someone calls is and verifies all of your information, they are YOU, and have authorization to change whatever they please. You can't expect Cricket's CSRs to be "phone cops". Verifying your information and stating that you are the customer says that you are who you say you are. It may seem dumb, but the CSRs are trained to confirm with you the adding and removal of features from your account. CSRs can NEVER assume that you don't want something just because you complain about it. However, the CSR should have NEVER said "do you want the service removed or what?"

I'm glad that you kept the copies of the rebate form (as you were instructed to do). FYI - Cricket does NOT handle the administration of the rebates directly.

The only other thing that I could possibly see affecting your account would be late fees. I have given you the best resolution I could based on the information you have provided. Hope this helps....
