I search the web site for specials on cricket phones, I found on where you pay the plan and get a free moto 265. i was all ecstatic about it and since that was the last day or near it to place the order I decided to go ahead and do it. Well that was a big mistake the phone was a refurbished one, and they asked if I wanted insurance on it. I had it until Dec 1st and then the phone just stopped working, it would say no signal and the screen would go black and it wouldn't charge.

I then went to the cricket store and had the charger tested and they said it wasn't the charger that it was the phone and I had to call THE SIGNAL 1-866-217-5787, they told me they could make am insurance claim but my deductible would be $85. I explained to her that the phone was refurbished and I received it for free, and the phone itself was only worth maybe $35. She told me that I would have to call cricket and find out what they could do. Either that or pay the deductible on the refurbished phone.

So I called cricket and they told me I should not have been able to receive a insurance plan on a refurbished phone, she reimbursed me the money paid and told me I would be better off going to the web site and paying $35 for a new phone. I just decided to Cancel my Cricket phone. Really stringing people along with that insurance policy and the deductible. LOL she compared it to car insurance or medical insurance.

I am sorry to hear that you had an unpleasant experience with Cricket. When you purchased the phone I am sure you were informed that the phone was refurbished. If you go to mycricket.com the refurbished phones do say "refurb" next to them. Refurbished phones only carry a 30 limited warranty and you may not purchase insurance on them. This is disclosed at the time of purchase. That being said, the refurbished phones are offered at a significantly lower price than a brand new handset. I have heard of a few cases like yours where the website has given the option to purchase insurance by mistake. I believe this has since been fixed. Cricket offers insurance through a company called The Signal . The Signal charges a deductable of either $35, $50 or $85 depending on the model of the phone and what features the phone has. The insurance option is available so that you do not have to pay full retail price to replace your phone in the event it is lost, stolen or damaged. I am sorry that this happened to you and I am glad your money was refunded.
