Dish Network service was ordered based on a flyer promotion that included the hopper dvr, and America's everything plan for $29.99 a month. The techs came 7 days after order was made, that was 4 days after promised install by date, and installed the duo 625, vip222 recievers instead of the hopper/joey recievers. The techs said that the hopper recievers were not in thier work order, and to contact customer service. Customer service states that in order to get the hopper an extra $100 fee to install, a $200 one time fee to change "upgrade" to the hopper, and $10.00 a month for hopper plus $7.00/m for each joey would be made. I understand the monthly fees, but the upgrade/install fee? I ordered the hopper promotion, and expected the hopper, and pay $29.99/m for 12 months. Instead I received the 625, and pay $63/month!!! The 625 only connects to the internet via traditional phone line which means I can't access on demand, because I have cable internet no phone service. I have the best dvr that 2005 has to offer it connects to a phone line. The fees are double the price I was led to believe would be charged. They want $300 extra fees to "upgrade" to what was supposed to be installed. 3 months in deep dish, and might pay $300 to just cancell. It might be cheaper to cancell, and switch than to "upgrade", and stay. They say they have the most advanced programming package, but my reciever cannot connect to my router watch on de mand. I have contacted tech support through live chat in order to connect to my router, first chat stated I needed a wifi to usb adaptor, wrong the 625 usb can't connect to anything other than a  hdd ($10 to activate feature), next chat I was told that I needed a  phonex adaptor which connects to both a  cat5 and cat3, wrong it doesn't. Today I was told by another rep that the 625 does not connect to the internet. This same day I have been told by another rep that it does connect, but only through phone. Every rep tells you something different. Buyer Beware, if you order dish the order you place, and the order you receive will be different. You will be charged to receive your original order.  I suspect that they purpose ly do this in order to charge you into extra technician fees, and accessory sales. This is a very dishonest, malicous company will blatantly lie to you every time you contact them.  I am unhappy with the service, I'm unhappy with the equipment, I'm unhappy  with the spiked fees $63 for the past 3 months. I am convinced that you will be unhappy if you choose to sign a  false contract that only the consumer has to abide by. I can get cable t.v. service with less cost, and less headaches.

Thank you for responding Dan. Yes I have had an irritating experience as a dish network subscriber, and it is ongoing. The first call that was made in regards to the receiver was made during installation. Today I wouldn't consider my issue resolved since I still do not have the hopper, and my 3 month access to america's everything promotion with extras have expired before I was even able to have access to them. I have also somehow lost my ability to recieve free hd for life promotions. If everything has been done properly by dish in the beggining, I would have continued the americas's everything with premiums package. Now that I am able to access network on demand I realize how inferior Dish network is. The premium channels I enjoy do not have on demand access available for dish subscribers, due to contract issues between dish, and the respected networks. Within the first 3 months I have seen channels move around, and then finally dissapear. The hardware I have received has been inferior to anything I have had been provided by other companies. Yes now I have the VIP722, but the user interface is horrendous. Being able to watch an on demand title without the video skipping, and having to restart is impossible. I have a decent internet connection a t 25-30mbps that my other devices do not have an issue with when connected. I only use 1 or 2 devices at a time to stream media, and only have issues when using dish network products. I know that you have said that you are glad that this issue is resolved, but it is not. Unless you consider that the fact that I have been ripped off by Dish, and that after my contract expires I will never purchase services by Dish again a proper resulotion. I truly have not enjoyed doing business with this company. I have so much new found contempt for this company that I am actually thinking about paying the $500 just to not do business with dish. I have had dish in the past (two households ago), and have enjoyed service until I moved in to a condo who by contract did not allow dish network. I don't understand how your company can change so much from the first time I had dish, into what it is now.

It sounds like you have had a terrible experience with our company and I'm definitely sorry to hear that. Usually, when the wrong receiver is installed we can work out a resolution pretty quickly if you contact us before the install we can even fix the issue on the spot though rescheduling may be necessary. If you call after the install we will usually give you the same pricing you qualified for on an upgrade. I'm not sure why you had so many issues with this and I apologize for the trouble, but I'm glad to hear this was finally resolved. From the sound of things especially with the pricing you listed for the Hopper upgrade it looks like there were issues both at the point of sales and with the agents who were to modify the work order. I would love to look into this for you to see if we can come to a better agreement to get you the Hopper that you were promised, as well as address your frustration with the other aspects of our service.  Please send me an e-mail at: Daniel.Busa@DISH.com

How dish handled my issues

AUTHOR: Frank - ()

POSTED: Sunday, June 16, 2013

Earlier this week after constantly contacting dish network's customer service they decided to switch out my receiver.  All I have to pay for is return shipping. The vip722 instead of the duo 625 (should have been the hopper). I am now able to connect  to the internet, and watch on demand (sans showtime on demand which is not provided by dish for  subscribers). Over 3 months took place before I was able to change out recievers,  and have access to on demand. I learned that if you need customer service from dish you need to skip the first 3 reps, and communicate with a supervisor. Speak to a supervisor. Anyone else under will give you the runaround, try to charge you extra for something you do not need/want,  misdirect you by giving you wrong information, or just flat out disconnect. Make sure that you record all audio, and take screenshots of all your conversations with dish. If not they WILL charge you extra. I believe that the only reason I was able to achieve any form of results was due to the fact that I have asked them to confirm if the number I had for dish's corporate office was correct. The last time I contacted them they told me I was late a payment even though every month has been paid on time. They even made 2 unauthorized withdrawals from the back. They said it was authorized since the account was set to autopay. Which it should not have been. I still think that this company is the worst that I have dealt with, and should be avoided. If you do get dish anyway do so, and know that the channels move around, dissapear, and certain on demand access is not available to subscribers who pay premium. One big disappointment is the lack of access to showtime on demand, and showtime anytime. If you want access to your dvr, or live tv when you are away from home you can do that without dish network by getting a slingbox.
