Dollar General ripoff Portsmouth Virginia

I am a former assistant manager for dollar general. I was transferred to another store when the store manager quit as a favor to my dm. Upon arriving at the store it was in disarray, a complete mess. I requested a transfer with my dm to the store that I was transferred from upon the hiring of a new sm, the request was ignored by my dm.

I had repeated problems of people not showing up for work when they were supposed to which caused me to work double shifts. I was often left in the store by myself while sm who were helping run the store went on personal errands on company time.

I was written up for not protecting company assests cause one day I was left in the store alone while the sm ran a personal errand and a customer came that I did not see and picked merchnadise off the shelf for a refund without a reciept. The same customer came in the store again this time with nothing in his hands and tried to return a pair of men's pants without a reciept and was not allowed the refund cause the man took the pants off the shelf.

I was recently terminated because I was forced to sign a statement that I was responsible for throwing out $1200 of damaged merchandise per the sm who told me to throw them out.

I was also accused of stealing some of that merchandise which I did not steal. I was also given permission from a sm to take merchandise from the store that we were no longer going to sell.

The store that I transferred from had caught some of there employees stealing from the company and those people were terminated, one of ex employees told loss prevention that i was also stealing from dg which is a lie. I believe that is why I was forced to sign a statement that I did not feel was right and was told that if I did not sign the statement that I would be suspended or fired, so I signed the statement and was terminated anyway. My tremination from my job is causing fincial hardship as to the end of august, 2004 my fiance and i will be homeless.
