I needed a short term living arrangement May 2014 to begin a new job. I contacted the manager at Kings Colony apartments and filled out a rental agreement for a 3 month lease. I paid a service fee, a Move in fee/security depsoit and first months rent. After I moved out, I inquired about the return of my security deposit in the amount of $350.00, I was shockingly told that it was a "non refundable move-in" fee. This was not made clear at the time the short term lease was arranged. The leasing manager (LM) used the terms security deposit and the Nation Lease Form provided by the Elon Property Management  states very clearly that the deposit will be returned to the resident.  To reiterate, At no time was it ever made clear that this deposit would not be returned. Its extortion plain and simple. Be warned when renting from them. I am working to get my deposit returned. To date, they have not responded to any of my inquiries.
