I worked a deal with Gibson Truck World over the phone and computer
regarding a 2005 Chevy 1500. The vehicle as described on THEIR website
was Black, 85200mi, CERTIFIED to their standards with the 135 point
inspection, and came with the 1 year b*mper to b*mper warranty. I told
them that I had been approved at MY bank for a loan and told them the
terms, I was told we can beat that! After driving 2.5 hours to Sanford
I was greeted at the door, found my salesman and was escorted to see
my new/used vehicle. I was presented with a CHARCOAL Chevy 1500, that
had 89000 mi, nails in the rear tires, a dent and paint transfer on the
pa*senger side, an AC switch that only worked on high, had never seen a
detail shop, and a shimmy and pull in the non-existing alignment. I was
told that this truck was to be sold AS IS. After 2 hours of
renegotiating, both parties agreed to have all problems fixed and to
have the vehicle delivered to me. When it came to go to the finance
table I was presented with my terms (remember they said they would beet
my own banks terms). What was put in front of me was a rate nearly
double that of my own bank and for payments $60 more a month then what
was agreed upon. That was the icing on the cake, we left back home, 2.5
hours later with no truck. I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND
GTW!!!! If you do decide to use GTW for your
next purchase, make sure you get EVERYTHING in writing first!

Gibson Truck World's Second Response

AUTHOR: Gibson Truck World - (USA)

POSTED: Wednesday, July 06, 2011

Like we stated above, the Chevy 1500 was a vehicle we very recently received at Gibson as a trade-in and it was still in the waiting line scheduled to be serviced when Cory first contacted us. ALL of our certified vehicles get advertised on our website the day they arrive as New Arrivals. Gibsons New Arrivals have only a few photos as well as a blue photo stating Pictures taken before service, new pictures coming soon informing the customer that these images were taken before service was completed.  You can clearly see this by going to our website and clicking on the New Arrivals tab.  It isnt until after the vehicle has completed service that all the new photos are taken with the warranty sticker across the windshield, a shop bill of everything that was completed on the vehicle is added to the description, a live video is recorded and the blue photo is removed from the website.  We had none of these after service details on this Chevy 1500 because they were never completed.  We stopped moving forward on servicing this truck because Cory wanted to purchase it AS-IS at a DISCOUNTED price.  We never told Cory that this truck had been through our service department; in fact we told him that due to the discounted price, this truck was NOT going to be serviced.  Cory was made aware of this trucks details one week before coming to Gibson to see the truck.  We apologize that Cory thought that he wanted a discounted price instead of a serviced truck before he arrived and then changed his mind when he got to Gibson, but we stand by the fact that we did not do anything to deceive him.  Corys statement about Gibson Truck Worlds having disgusted customers is completely false and not based on any proof or facts.  Gibson Truck World was just recently ranked #18 out of 37,717 Dealers in the United States Top Independent Retailers Award presented by Auto Dealer Monthly Magazine!  You dont make the top 20 of all the independent dealers in the entire United States by being a joke.  If Cory had allowed us the opportunity to service this Chevy and deliver it as promised, I can guarantee you that he would have been completely satisfied with his truck.  But, for reasons we can only assume were financial, he suddenly decided not to purchase.  He did however have his girlfriend sign all the paperwork stating that he was purchasing this truck and if we were actually a BAD company as Cory described, we could legally hold them accountable for their truck purchase.  Except that we are NOT a bad company, and would never force a customer to purchase something that they were not 100% sure about.  We do NOT do business that way.
We encourage everyone out there to do their own research before they buy because there is no other dealer anywhere that will stand behind their inventory like the King of Trucks!

The Chevy that I was going to purchase from GTW was advertised on their website as already being CERTIFIED and had their 135 point inspection! So you are telling me that all this work that had already been advertised as being done to this truck, was removed, the dent/paint transfer was added back on, the nail riddled tires were mounted and not balanced, hence the shake, rattle and better put my seat belt on before it rolls vibration? And then you drove it around for 2,000 plus miles to make sure it got really dirty? NO you didn't!!!!!! What you did do, is try to sell me a pile of JUNK that was made to look and sound like a nice, dependable and SAFE vehicle and then offer me $30 in gas for a 340 mile round trip!

I wish I would have done my research regarding Gibson Truck World before I left the house! I don't need to tell you how BAD this company is, the PROOF is in the consumer reviews. For every happy costumer there is 3 very DISGUSTED ones!

Gibson Truck World, you are a joke!

Gibson Truck World's Response

AUTHOR: Gibson Truck World - (USA)

POSTED: Thursday, June 30, 2011

We would like to start out by saying that Gibson Truck World has a no-haggle price policy for all of our vehicles because we only mark-up each truck by $700.  This is why we have the highest quality trucks at the very lowest prices available, and we will pay out $1,000 if you find a better truck for less!  That being said, if a customer still requests a discount we will take a few hundred dollars off the selling price and offer the truck to the customer without our exclusive One year Bumper to Bumper Warranty, One Year of Free Maintenance and our 15 Day Return policy. The Dark Gray Metallic Chevy 1500 with exactly 87,567 miles was a vehicle we very recently received as a trade-in and was still in the waiting line scheduled to be serviced when Cory first contacted us.  Cory requested a discount price for the Chevy, so we complied and informed him over the phone, that with this discount, he will no longer be eligible for our Warranty program. Cory agreed to this and gave a deposit on the truck.  However, once Cory arrived at the dealership, he decided that the benefits of a serviced truck with the Bumper to Bumper warranty far outweighed the discount and decided it was better to pay the difference and buy the truck with our warranty.
Cory had also told our truck specialist over the phone that he was able to get his own financing however wanted to see if we could get him a better deal.  Since we can get rates as low as 2.7% with approved credit, we told him that may be an option.  Due to many factors and the fact that this truck is a 2005; we were able to offer Cory a rate of 4% for a 48 month term with payments of $365 per month.  He said that this payment was too high and decided to leave the dealership that evening without the truck and provide his own financing with his banks offer instead - which was the same 4% rate but for a longer term.
We tried very hard to please Cory and even offered to fill his own cars tank with gas for the inconvenience of switching back to a certified option with his truck, but he refused our offer numerous times.  When Cory left the dealership, we told him that we would have the truck delivered to him, serviced with a warranty and he would not have to make the 2.5 hour drive back himself to get the truck.  It wasn't until the next day that Cory called the dealership and requested his deposit back informing us that he no longer wanted to purchase this Chevy. We went above and beyond with this offer considering it was Corys choice in the first place to take a discount instead of the warranty. We believe that Corys final decision not to purchase this truck was based solely on personal financial reasons, and not because Gibson Truck World deceived him in any way.
