I use H and R Block every year. Last year they had a system reset which I guess put 844 more dollars on my card that I did not know was there, now they are telling me that I owe them 1000 dollars!!! They messed up and I am suppose to pay! Well I will not pay and it was all because of the emerald advanced line of credit! If I had not gotten that they would not have been able to wiggle that amount in,and no I did not notice,I just paid my bills till it was gone and went on with my life. I have filed a dispute and I will not pay for their mistakes,I suggest anyone using them pay attention to the amount on your card when it comes in and make sure it matches with what your refund is suppose to be or they will slick you into money you are not suppose to have and then don't tell you untill you try to file your taxes again!!!! I am disputing and I will not pay and the lady even said there were many other people with the same issue so they are gettting anyone that gets the line of credit so watch out!!!!!

This is Pretty Easy....

Pay it back. Don't say no. Be nice about it. It doesn't even matter that was a mistake. What they will do is get your money back through judgment in small claims. What are you going to claim - finders keepers? If you don't pay it back....it will just cause you a lot of problems you don't need.
In the future, don't sign up for any of these stupid programs these agencies offer. Just get the money direct deposited to your account; I mean if you can't wait 10-15 days, maybe you should have less withheld so you can use the money during the year. You may get a lower refund, but so what? If you want your money sooner, don't have so much withheld....

You owe the money

You are responsible for managing your account. It is YOUR responsibility to report errors, and that includes errors where money is withdrawn by mistake AND deposited by mistake.
If this was something like $20-$30 you may be able to convince people that you didn't notice it(although you would still owe it back), but when you get to over $800...sorry the only one you are convincing that you didn't notice this amount is yourself.
You can keep saying that they Ripped you off and you are not going to pay it back. But so far the only Ripoff is that you have spent over $800 that was NOT yours. In a lot of situations that would be called theft. Just be glad that they will probably only sue you and not have you arrested.

Would you have noticed if you were $844 dollars short?.....sure you would.
Nice try at outrage and ignorance, but they caught you. Pay it back and save yourself some trouble.
