I have literally spent hours posting this very information on my blog today.  My story is pretty much the same as everyone else.  I bought a refurbished HP 1116NR Netbook from Micro Center.  Got it home and found out it was broken.  Diagnosed it through HP's website and was promised, in writing, a new SSD would be shipped next business day.  The part didn't show up, so I called looking for it and was told that they weren't going to ship it after all, but instead I had to send my laptop in for repair.

I received the box from HP - late - packed up the unit and shipped it in the same day.  For 19 days it was "lost" and then the day that I start complaining publicly about the problem it shows up all of a sudden.

Now, they are refusing to fix it.  When I called in to complain about that I got to talk to someone in Customer Relations who explained my situation to me.  I was told that my repair would cost $246.  I only paid $104 for the machine in the first place.  I told the guy at that point that I would be starting legal proceedings and he said that if I did that he couldn't help me.  I asked him what he could do for me if I stopped complaining and didn't do anything legal.  He said that I then would have two options, I could get my machine back not fixed or I could pay the $246.  What???  That is what I will get if I STOP COMPLAINING?  Good luck with that!

For the entire story including copies of the emails with the email addresses at HP attached and screen shots of the tracking and status pages, please visit my blog.  It is simply too long to type it all again here and I can't seem to copy and paste.  http://birdzbeez.blogspot.com/2010/02/i-vote-we-go-back-to-commodore-64.html

If you decide to file a small claims against them, good to go!  Keep in mind that if your netbook is under HP's warranty and they refuse to honour it, you can theoretically look at breach of contract as well, and tack on more money to be given if the lawsuit is found in your favour.  Look under your state's consumer protection acts to see if you can do so.
