I work in IT for a place I will not reveal. I got a support call that an HP printer would not work correctly because it was complaining that it was not enrolled in the Instant Ink program. True, it was not. It was unenrolled from the program because of difficulties due to the fact the Instant Ink function will not work, at all, without an Internet connection. However, these cartridges were purchased at the local Staples. Nowhere, and I mean nowhere, on the box were they labeled as Instant Ink. Two people looked at the cartridges, and there was no indication that they were Instant Ink cartridges. I inspected the box and the cartridges. Only after you open the box can you determine that they are Instant Ink cartridges. Nowhere on the box does it say anything about Instant Ink. Only in small print, which is easily missed, on the cartridges themselves can this be determined. This is a scam. It is intended to make you waste your time going back and forth to the store until you get tired and cave in and sign up for the Instant Ink program. At best, it is deceptive packaging and illegal. When contacted, HP wanted us to take the cartridges back to the store. No, we don't want the printer any longer. It is defective because of their marketing practices. I hope they get sued.
