have always been on time with my payments and have recently tried to pay ahead by 20 days prior to due date and was given late fees because I paid outside of the 25 day window (as told to me by two different HSBC
customer service types).
will try to pay them off, as soon as possible and will avoid doing business in the future

Probably what is happening is their computer is picking up your "too early" payment from the last cycle as a late payment. I know it sounds weird but I had the same thing happen to me with another company. What happened was it applied the early payment to the previous month's cycle, showing me as making two payments that month and no payment the following month. It's just a "glitch" in the system. I called 'em up and asked why the showed no payment for that month even though I'd sent the payment in early and got the same canned answer as you did. It figures. Try and get ahead of the game. THEY don't want you to. They're afraid you'll pay them off and be done with them.

always paid on time
started to pay ahead of due date (by 20 days) and have beencharged with late fees due to a technicality
will pay them off and not use them in the future
will ensure to do research via "ripoff report" and others to ensure I am not another institute's victim
