I have been trying to warm everyone that I know about the purchasing issues associated with Jim Walter Industries.

My sister and I decided to purchase a house from the Tallahassee Home Center. At first, things seem to be going somewhat okay but everything I was told was becoming a fast lie.

We signed our contract to start building the house in February 2004. We were told that we would have to wait a few weeks until they started on our house. This was fine we really weren't ready to move in. And realized we weren't the only ones they were building for.

In May of 2004 they put down the foundation, and that seem to take a little longer than I thought it should be.
The gentleman that was the foreman told me that he would get things back on track.

Then the hurricanes came, I realize that they needed time to re evaluate things and get their jobs back on track.
So I started to call on a regular basis and every time I was told we are working on it.

Now its October, I called Jim Walter Tallahassee and am told now that the old foreman is no longer their. He was fired.

So I receive a new foreman and I try not to blame him for the delay that has taken place with my house.
The new foreman tells me we will have the house tendered and finish by Halloween 2004. Another lie.
This never happens the house becomes riddled with inspection problems and every time I called the Tallahassee Home Center and the corporate office I get the run around and straight out lied to again.

Now its November, 2004 we finally get everything finish, I thought and tender the house.
My first mistake was signing the papers and not getting the finial inspection before hand. I was told this is how it has to be done.

It's January 2005 and the first payment is due I get a call from the Wakulla County Building Department.
Their call is to inform me that we can't move into the house because of items not passing.
They even called Jim Walter while I was their and Jim Walter told them they would take care of the deficiencies ASAP.

It took Jim Walter from Feb 2004 until Feb 2005 to complete this project. And to this date they still haven't fixed all the problems they were supposed to.

This even gets better there is a clause in the insurance disclosure that states even if you cancel your policy
After you tender they will prorate your amount due.

For the first 2months no letter from Walter Industries until the end of February, this letter says they have been using my house payments to pay the insurance premium that I called and asked to cancel over the phone.

This letter is a warning to any person unfortunate to get a house with anyone else.
Jim Walter Homes, Mid State Homes and Walter Industries are companies I don't think you would enjoy doing business with.
This company and all of it subsidiaries are for the lack of betters words a sorry excuse for a home builder.
You would think that they would be concerned about their customer service but apparently not.

I really do believe if I were white, my sister and I would not be going through all this crap.

If you could please warm every unexpected citizen especially the black one about this company it would help.
