I started going to the LA Tan in Cocoa, FL over a year ago. I went for a few months (I believe from February to May); I go in to tan and to be told that I have a balance and I cannot tan till I pay it. Well to my surprise, I have the payments auto debited from my bank account. So after a brief conversation with the employee I was informed that if I didn’t pay the balance that my membership will be no good, so I told her fine (couldn’t deal with her attitude anymore) and I asked her if my payments will stop. She confirmed to me that yes the payments will no longer be taken out of my bank. Now this being in June…. So it never crossed my mind that this place would be scammers and to check your bank every month.

Until I had an issue with someone getting a hold of my bank card to which I needed to scroll through my bank account and I noticed that the payments were still being taken out, now this is October... So I was like WOW. I got on the phone and called and spoke with a Victoria who all she kept saying is did you sign the form, no because the employee never said anything to me about a form, she then proceeded to tell me that the employee was new and she didn’t know. I asked if I can get reimbursed for the months that were coming out and she stated no because I signed the contract.

But she was like but I can talk to the manager and see what we can do, so Victoria stated that I would have to come in to cancel the membership, so I was like well I already paid this much that I should come back so I told her that I didn’t want to cancel it.  So the payments were still being taken out of my bank account. Well due to my schedule I haven’t been able to make it in till now, which is February, I stop by and go into Tan and to my surprise I get told the same thing that I did the last time I went into Tan.   “You have a balance and you cannot tan till you pay it”… WHAT!!!!

So I try to explain the situation to the employee and she says I can’t do anything I also told her that the person I spoke to back in October was going to try and see about getting some extra tan bucks to make up for some of it she looked at my account and told me that I have $7 (well that is what I had before all this), but let me send the district manager and email and I’ll call you back as soon as I hear back from her. Well no call no nothing from this place (this was Saturday)… I called on Tuesday (had meetings all day on Monday and no time to call) and I speak to the employee that was there, and she was like “oh yea let me check to see if she got back to me, no she hasn’t got back to me..

I’ll call her and talk to her right now... Give me 30 minutes and call me back”. So I waited and called back, to be told that the “assistant manager” is looking over my paperwork and she will call me back. “ok” I said, so then I receive a phone call from the so called assistant manager Victoria… she then proceeded to tell me that she is the one that I spoke with back in October and didn’t want to hear what I had to say at all. Anytime I went to say anything she would speak louder than me to get her point across. So now I am just getting mad as she is one calling herself a manager and has no clue how to talk to someone, especially someone that is already feels like they are being scammed.  

She has no management skills what so ever... but, on the phone once again she kept saying that I have to come in to sign the contract to cancel my membership, so NOW I say I’m going to cancel it and asked her to print out my information that I will be contacting someone else, she was just plain rude with me to where I just had to hang up on her… I go to the tanning salon (that happens to be in another town then where I live) to cancel my membership to be told that NOW I can’t cancel it because I have a balance…. Ok first off, it was being taken out of my bank account for 4 months without me knowing, then I try to give the company the benefit of the doubt and keep my membership, paying another 4 months without still being able to have time to go up there and I have a balance…..  

That is a $175 that I have paid LA Tan without using any type of service. And then to feel that the employees could care less about trying to help out and getting the situation fixed that they would rather through you under the bus and act like they don’t care about your service with them.  I am contacting the Better Business Bureau, even though I already see that your company has not been approved due to not wanting to satisfy your customers… and who knows how far I feel like pushing this, but thought I would just let you know that I feel this company is a scam artist and doesn’t care about your customers and the employees are not trained at all!!!
