Last night around 7:30 pm, I received a cold call from "Jackie". She asked for me by name and then proceeded to rhyme off my address, then asked me to verify if this was correct. She then said her "supervisor" may call me for quality assurance purposes. Thinking it was probably just a courtesy call from my bank, I said it was. She then identified herself as "Jackie" from Magazine Publishers Service. She mentioned that as a "preferred customer", I had won a diamond watch, a free 24-month subscription to Reader's Digest, and was entered into a draw for $25,000. She then went on about the great magazines they offered and said I could receive a # of magazines for 60 months at a cost of $3/week for 60 months. I politely declined, but she said I had already verbally agreed and was now committed. I refused to give her any credit card or banking information, said I had not agreed to buy anything, and if she thought otherwise, then she could cancel it all right there. I said goodnight and hung up.

About 5 mins later, I received a call from a supervisor who's name escapes me, but sounded similar to "Jackie" She asked about the call and if she was polite, I said she was. This "supervisor" then said she wanted to verify everything. I said there was nothing to verify as I wasn't buying anything. She then said I was committed to a verbal agreement. I said cancel this so-called agreement, she said she could not as it was already processed!!! She began demanding my cc/bank info. Again, I refused. She became quite belligerent, swore a few times at me and said I could "do it the easy way or the hard way": Give my info now and be done with it, or I'd be sent invoices. Refusal to pay would result in being sent to a collection agency and possibly sued. I again said cancel everything eevn though I feel I ordered nothing.

Today I called the Atlantic Canada Better Business Bureau, The Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre, and the Royal Canadian Mounted Police. Files have been opened with all three. Any invoices I may recieve are to be copied and forwarded to the Anti-Fraud Centre and the R.C.M.P. They are well aware of this company, and their bullying tactics to get my financial info. This evening I called MPS, spoke to an "Ashley", told her what I had done, and gave her the contact info for the police officer(s) I spoke with. She asked for my name and postal code and I reluctantly gave it to her. I heard her typing, she read me my phone # and said "Is this you? I said "correct". She said "You're account is now cancelled"! I'm still not convinced I've heard the ladt of them from what I've read, but I'll sleep well for tonight at least.

Would love some feedback from both ripoffreport and others who've dealt with this company. After the horror stories I've read, why hasn't a class-action lawsuit not been filed to bring down these jokers?
