To Maria in Hollywood, California who posted a report in January 2012, please contact me regarding a class action lawsuit.

First, I met with a saleswoman who could probably tell that I wasn't buying into all the crap she was telling me.  So she said she would like for me to meet with the only sales manager that was brought over from MGV.  As if that was comforting.  He was aggressive and used scare tactics to try to intimidate me into converting my Monarch Grand Vacation account to Diamond Resorts International account.  First of all, I did not know that MGV went bankrupt nor did I know that DRI bought MGV.  Later, another salesman told me that the MGV developer went out of business but basically it's different wording but means the same thing.  If I had known that I was going to get confronted with a big sales pitch, I would not have attended the meeting (they call it a "tour") even for the $100 gift card!!!

Of course, the salesman tells me that I had to purchase TODAY because it's a one-time deal.  What's the saying....nothing is certain but death and taxes so unless he is GOD or the IRS, I don't believe for one second that I cannot get the same deal in the future.  To convert MGV points to DRI points, it costs about $3,000 which must be paid in cash.  Along with the conversion charge, a purchase must be made.  That means that you must buy into one of their four tiers - standard, silver, gold or platinum.  I would get 30 DRI points for every 1 MGV point and pay $3 per point unless I didn't convert that day.  Otherwise, it would be 15 DRI points for every 1 MGV point and pay $6 per point.  Because I am already a MGV owner, I should be content with getting a 50% discount.  Since I am already an owner with a company that they just purchased, why I do I have to pay again for timeshares?

I was told that 4 out of 5 MGV owners were converting to DRI.  That's crap!  I was also told that now that the 500,000 DRI owners have access to MGV's 9 resorts, it would be even more difficult to get a reservation.  The maintenance fees will continue to increase as more owners convert to DRI.  That means the remaining MGV owners will be more responsible for paying the fees because there are fewer owners to pay for them.  If DRI owners have access to MGV's resorts, why aren't the maintenance fees reduced now that there are alot more members using them?  Also, MGV owners do not have access to DRI locations!  The remaining MGV owners will have to pay increased fees for the rest of their lives so that other people can use the resorts.
