If you have a National City bank account you better watch it very closely, I had multiple debits for the same transactions and false debits for amounts that put my account in the negative and caused real transactions to bounce.

I then incurred fees which were in the hundreds of dollars, when I went to the bank to speak to someone the manager was never available and I was told he would call me but never did. I printed out my account history and took it to the bank to show them, the girl at the counter told me that they did not deal with the on-line banking and could not help me and could not explain the mysterious debits that were on the account.

I noticed a debit of $1200.00 on a specific day and knew that I had not had a transaction for that amount, it caused my account to be in the negative causing 7 other (real transactions) to be in the negative and I was charged $238.00 for NSF fees, the next day the $1200.00 was gone but I was still charged the fees. I have no idea what the $1200.00 was and it just disappeared and I know I did not have a purchase for that amount.

I work for a company that pushed National City to their employees so I opened the account for my direct deposit, I recently found out that other employees that I work with have closed their accounts for the same reasons.

My sister told me prior to opening this account that she had a lot of problems with National City and I opened it anyway and learned the hard way!

Ripping people off and HORRIBLE customer service is obviously a common practice at this bank!!!

Rich, I went through a horrible ordeal with NCB & filed a complaint with the BBB. After filing that complaint, I also filed one with the Office of the Comptroller of Currency (OCC) who oversees all National Banks. This was last month. I just received a response from the BBB as of today. All fees that I was fraudulently charged were dropped & I was removed from the collection status NCB had put me in.

It pays to file a complaint & send any documentation that you have to the BBB as well as the OCC. Since NCB doesn't want to listen or acknowledge it's customers complaints, these agencies will do it for you. I'm very happy with the outcome. I suggest that everyone that has a valid complaint do the same, otherwise these banks will just continue to rip their customers off! Good luck to you!

Cori

I had a similar thing happen to me when checking my balance online. There were transactions showing up online one day & then gone the next day. I should have printed the online statement out, because when I went to the bank to speak to a manager about this, she said they don't show the same screen, so she could not explain what happened. I know I wasn't seeing things.

This was not the first time this had happened. NCB also was supposed to stop payment on a check once, & they deducted the check fee out of my account immediately, but didn't stop the payment, causing overdraft charges to be deducted from my account. I had to jump through hoops to get them to refund the money they took from my account. They did not want to admit it was their fault.

Their employees are not the brightest crayons in the box! They don't have a clue what they're doing & their customer service is the worst I've ever seen anywhere! If you decide to close your account & think that you're finally rid of them once & for all...think again!

They will find any reason they can to reopen your account without you knowing about it, then start charging bogus fees to your account. They will then turn your account over to a collection agency if you don't pay the hundreds of dollars in fees that they will slap you with.

This bank needs to be run out of business! I think an online petition should be started against this bank for everyone to sign that has been taken by this bank.

National City double posted my transactions also

AUTHOR: Kristylynn11 - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Tuesday, March 04, 2008

I noticed today that I had three NSF fees charged to my account yesterday when i still had a positive balance! I then noticed two duplicate transactions pending for tomorrow. I immediately printed out my online statement and took it to the bank. They argued with me when I asked why they are charging me NSF fees in advance but they did admit that the double posted two transactions. They said that they would refund the NSF fees. We'll see. It is still wrong to charge NSF fees before transactions even post. I plan on closing my account with National City Bank and opening a new account with a local Credit Union. I recommend everyone else who is experiencing these unacceptable practices to do the same!

NCB RIP-OFF PROOF!

AUTHOR: Anonymous - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Tuesday, March 04, 2008

I made a purchase for a new computer on Friday with my debit card, the amount was immediately pending in my acct. The debit posted on Monday and now I have a purchase for the exact same amount pending for today which is Tuesday and my acct. balance is less that amount.

If it already cleared and posted, how can National City have another transaction pending for today? If I had less than the debit amount in my account I would be in the negative and would be charged fees for everything else that is now going through my account. This has happened before and I was not reimbursed the fees!

I printed my account info out this morning for just more proof of the scammming that is going on.

I have already closed one account and this account will be closed this week.

You are stealing people's money!

someone tapping into your account is the bank's fault how? Someone apparently has your bank account number - there is no doubt about it - that's who is at fault and what you should be worried about.
