In Sept. of 2007 I was getting a new small business ready to open. I was contacted by a sales rep. named John about renting credit card equipment. Since I was new and wanted to do all I could to make my business succeed but not exactly sure how my business was going to do I told him I did not want to be locked in to any contracts. He told me that was no problem, that if I ever needed to close my business, just send the equipment back and pay a termination fee of $150.00.

Seemed fair to me so I signed a Merchant processing application and agreement. I did not sign a lease. John told me he would return to set the equipment up for me when it came. I never saw him again nor would he answer any of my calls. The equipment set in my shop until I opened in late Oct. of 07. I set the equipment up myself.

In July of 08 I was forced to close my business for health reason. I contacted Northern Leasing and they told me to send a letter from my doctor stating the reason for closing and they would present it to the board for consideration. At the time, it never dawned on me that I actually did not have a lease with them----or I though I didn't. My mistake. Never assume anything.

Guess the sales rep. had one but if he did, I didn't get a copy nor do I remember signing anything that even looked like a lease agreement. I signed an application. They continued to draft my bank account until I put a stop payment on it in Dec. of 08 and I sent the equipment back at that time with another copy of the doctors letter and a letter explaining my situation again. Since the stop payment I have received one letter stating they would settle for $1000.(which I can not pay) and the calls on my cell have been unrelenting.

Everyday, at all hours and up to 16 times a day. I changed my cell number and now they have my home phone. I have tried to explain that I can't work, have no income and that I am unable to pay them at this time. Still they call. Today they have already called three times. The first call came at about 7 a.m. Seems they had to hunt for my lease agreement when I ask for a copy. Put me on hold for about 20 minutes and then said they would send me a copy. I can't wait to get that and see what they dummied up. THERE IS NO COPY! I DIDN'T SIGN A LEASE AGREEMENT WITH THEM!

This company needs to be put out of business and from the looks of all the complaints and class action suites, I don't know how they are still in business. SMALL BUSINESS OWNERS BEWARE! DON'T DO BUSINESS WITH THIS COMPANY! They are nasty, rude and unrelenting and very unprofessional. All they need is your signature---on anything---a napkin maybe???
