We attended a so-called no obligation breakfast to see Xcaret resort. We were offered free ATV rides which we declined so that we would feel obligated in any way. We soon heard the sales pitch which starts at 60000 dollars. then they eventually drop down to what can you afford as you repeatedly say no. Then they offer lesser memberships supposedly but then add free trips and stays. etc
These stays are actually what they use to say that you can not cancel your contract because you used  or started your contract using the benefits of your contract already.
However, check out Mexican Law. you have 5 working days to cancel.
We are now dealing with the "Mexican Federal Consumer Protection Agency" and they are there to protect individuals.
Please, i know it is embarrassing to admit, but if you have been screwed over by these people, you have at least a year to report them and possibly get out of the contract. At Least, make your voice heard and the more people who send reports the more pressure it puts on them to clean up these kinds of activities.
look up the email address and send a note.

It is always best to hire someone skilled to do so, unfortunately in most cases these companies dedicated to cancel timeshares usually cheat for the second time to their customers since they are vulnerable and desperate. If you are thinking of hiring them you just have to make sure you do not have to make any payment upfront ... I found these articles that speak precisely about this, you should read them, that might help you to resolve many doubts:

Occidental Allegro Timeshare Scam

AUTHOR: SophieM - ()

POSTED: Wednesday, August 14, 2013

I too was scammed by Occidental Allegro Club. Unfortunately, I spent time every day re-visiting the sales office to get things clarified and in writing, but I kept getting pushed off ("oh yeah, we'll get that to you" - NEVER HAPPENED. it was a daily delay tactic). When we got home, I made many calls to the reservation line, RCI, etc. to validate what we were told. The biggest discount claim - that owners get 35% of the published all-inclusive rates every year is FALSE - you only get this discount the first year and only if it is specifically written into your contract. J. Sean Stacy, the project director, will tell you things to your face but will never follow through. When you try to cancel, he will claim that you will owe ridiculous penalties for doing so (which goes directly against the language in the contract) YOU HAVE AN UNWAIVABLE, LEGAL RIGHT TO CANCEL WITHOUT PENALTY OR OBLIGATION. They will have you sign a "FINAL SALE" document to try to convince you that you cannot cancel - THIS IS A LIE and is ILLEGAL (they also don't include this page in your fancy leather binder when you leave). Don't get suckered into paying a penalty to cancel the contract if you are within the rescission period. Bob Behrens is a typical sales guy - tell you what you want to hear and expect you to trust him - BAD IDEA. Greta Sanchez (the "legal verificator") is probably just doing her job, but she will have to live with her own conscience for scamming people on a daily basis

Dear Ronald,

Once again, we are terribly sorry for the inconvenience and even more for not to having a chance to prove our value as a destination club. Nevertheless, we absolutely understand that our product is not suited for everybody as it brings a financial commitment that some persons during the tour tend to overlook while later regretting their decision. The reality is, we are human and all make bad decisions from time to time (just ask any of the ex-owners of foreclosed homes during the housing bubble) and prefer to leave the guilt on someone else.

That being said, the company feels the need to publicly clarify this situation showing its commitment and transparency to rightfully serve members.

As such, we feel its our obligation to reveal some details regarding your case:You have agreed to become a member of the Club on March 4th, 2011Due to the paper work, your membership has been processed officially by our Management Company on March 11th, 2011 On March 10th,  2011 you have submitted a written letter for cancellation to our legal verification officer.Your letter has been received and the request has been processed and as a part of the procedure. On March 24th, 2011, you have received a formal letter confirming the rescission and the refund. In the letter, the company explains the amount of the deductions, due to the contract processing cost and gift youve enjoyed during your stay (not returnable)

Within 15 days after the emission of the confirmation, you have received the  REFUND to your credit cards. So, we attended you and quite promptly solved your case.

While it's true, as a conservative company, it certainly took us some time to start defending our brand from few unfair accusations online, I can personally assure to you that on a daily basis we accept and fulfill many requests of different kinds not by legal obligation but by our will and commitment.

It is our mission to conserve happiest of the members. In our industry, not many companies do that. In fact, not in many of them you can directly contact the president and openly let him know about any detail related to your vacations. We just wish you had given us a chance to serve you and prove our value. 23 thousand families vacation on average twice a year with us, that's around 100,000 travelers annually. We've come to that number through hard earned loyalty over the years. It's a prove of the constant commitment and our values.

Mr. Schwindt, make no mistake, we care.

Kind Regards,

Steffi Dipp

After posting these reports and after much stress in dealing with you people. I got a partial refund and cancellation which I was entitled to.
I will never ever stay at or recommend Occidental Hotels after this.
I will not forward any more info as I cancelled about a year and a half ago and received my refund. I can not believe you would even post after such a long time. So much for customer  service.

GOOD BYE

update to time share scam

AUTHOR: Ron - (Canada)

POSTED: Monday, March 28, 2011

update March 25th: after filing this report, filing with the Federal Consumer Protection Agency in Mexico, filing with the Better Business Bureau in Florida, and filing a complaint with the Mexican Embassy in Canada, and sticking to wanting a cancellation as per the agreement, we have received a cancellation of contract first with deductions; then with more pressure in full.
Do not back down if you have cancelled within the 5 day agreement. It is law in Mexico and they have to abide by it. Don't talk in person as they will lie like a sidewalk. Just keep sending emails daily and keep the facts straight. I hope this helps someone. It appears to have worked for us and I am relieved. They try to lie, to banter, and even threat. Just give it back, and tell them you know your rights. IT WORKED!
