In December 2005 we went on a week vacation to the Allegro Resort (Occidental Grand Nuevo Vallarta) outside of Puerto Vallarta, Mexico. Iwona and Ted attended a presentation at the resort by Allegros representative Antonio Copella who wanted to sell us an upgraded membership. But, Iwona and Ericka had a current contract with Allegro from November 2002. Iwona wanted to get Ericka off the contract and add Ted because she was always late on her payments to Allegro which made the loan have late payment fees. Iwona was not interested in the upgrade and just wanted Ericka off the contract and Ted added. Antonio, was so nice (we thought), and offered help to solve our problem. He made a deal if Iwona upgraded her membership to First Club then he would remove Ericka's name, providing she signed off on the old contract.

and lower the monthly payments to $249 at 8% interest from $286(16% interest). So, Antonio wrote a new contract instead of an upgrade saying this is how we need to do this to make it work. He said that the old contract was worth about $24,000. Antonio would just sell the old contract easily for $20,000, take his commission, subtract what was owed on the old contract, then apply the rest of the money to the new contract, thus for us not to worry. If the contract does not sell then he would just apply the equity from the old contract against the new one. Then if we did a new first club contract we would get 2 years of RCI membership and a 5 year Golf Coarse membership rental with 2 weeks a year generating $7000 a year that he would sell giving us a check in February/March each year. So, everything looked great, and Antonio made us believe that we would profit from this deal, but the fairy tale ended after we left Mexico. Iwona paid $2270 to Alfonso Polanco Allegro's office manager for the new first club contract and the monthly payments went to up to $341 at 8% interest including the higher cost of maintenance and service fees. Antonio assured us that this was only temporary until he received the contract release form from Ericka.

In late December, Iwona had faxed Ericka's contract release form to Alfonso so Antonio could finish the paperwork. Several e-mails later in January/February back and forth from Iwona resulted in nothing happening. Alfonso then informed Iwona that Antonio was no longer with the company and that he needed a contract cancellation letter. This would mean that Iwona would loose everything from the old contract, equity lost, weeks lost maintenance and other fees lost. Then we would have an upgraded first club contract with higher fees and monthly payments of $341. Well now Iwona is stuck with 2 contracts. Iwona and Ted have made several phone calls and e-mails back in forth to Antonio, Alfonso, offices in the US, Mexico, and Allegro in the Domination Republic. In March Alfonso had spoken to Ted and agreed to apply the remaining equity on the old contract lowering the payments to $236 with a balance of $11,664, but nothing has been done. No one will help us or give out the Director Luis Namnum e-mail address or phone number. At the corporate offices we have had correspondence with Chris Harrington, Anja, Terry, Rudy Novotny, but, still no answers.. Six months later we are told that they are working on it. Well, what we want is for Occidental Allegro to make good on their promise. We know that the Golf Membership weeks were a lie and this will always leave a bitter taste in our mouth. Iwona would like to keep the old contract Platinum membership with the RCI membership, removing Ericka's name and adding Ted's, lowering the monthly payment and interest to 8% as this contract has lower maintenance and service fees. In addition, all money from the upgraded first club contract $2270 paid last December, plus this years monthly payments & maintenance fees are to be applied to this old contract. If this cannot be done then we would accept the upgraded first club contract and the RCI membership with the lower payments providing all equity, taxes, administrative fees from the Platinum contract be applied to the principle of the first club contract, including unused owners weeks. This is an upgraded contract, not a new one.

It is pathetic how Allegro resorts treats its members We will be sending letters to the media and all over the internet soon because we want the buyer to know how Allegro treats its members and not to buy Timeshares from them. In the mean time there are 2 contracts with 2 payments due each month and all maintenance fees with Allegro telling us they are working on it when nothing is being done!

It is always best to hire someone skilled to do so, unfortunately in most cases these companies dedicated to cancel timeshares usually cheat for the second time to their customers since they are vulnerable and desperate. If you are thinking of hiring them you just have to make sure you do not have to make any payment upfront ... I found these articles that speak precisely about this, you should read them, that might help you to resolve many doubts:

After several months of talking to the sales reps at the resort and getting nowhere, we were finally able to talk to the Corporate GTE Operations Director Daranelis Ramirez at 984-877-2716. He worked with us to fix our situation and make us happy! We can now enjoy our all inclusive time share! Thank you!
