petco GINA ( Dog Trainer)So disrespectful and she feels she is a person of power and treats the customer like crap. rude, arrogant, b****, disrespectful, ignorant, bull headed, mean. Manhattan Kansas

January 20th I had went to petco to look into enrolling my 6 month old yellow lab into another training session. The first one we started was in October it was a puppy level 1 and she was 13 weeks when she had her first course.  Christmas vacation was going to take 2.5 weeks so mid January I would be able to enroll her in puppy 2. Our trainer was Sandy and we just LOVE her. Well I did anyways. Mabel love's everyone and everything.  When there on the 20th I spoke to sandy to find what would work best for me. I could fit in one more session because my Due date was 7 weeks away and classes are 6 weeks long. Puppy 2 didn't start until Mid February pushing her graduation date past my due date a ways. She asked me how old is Mabel now? I said 6 months not thinking at the time she turns over on the 2nd of every month. But Sandy said oh she is more than old enough to be enrolled into adult level 1 if you'd like? Which started January 25th. Oh my gosh that was great :) Mabel loves going and so do I. Signed me up and I paid 89.99 for the 6 week course. 

January 25th :) the big day 1st day of class. Oh I get so excited to learn new things to teach Mabel though I am pretty good at working with animals it is required by my apartment complex she be in classes. (if under 9 months you have to enroll them in classes to have them in or on the property) anyways we are running 5 mins late but that's ok I quit showing up early or even on time because the trainer we had before was always still finishing setting up or forgot we had class most days. So 5 mins late and I needed to snag Mabel treats for class so we are at the check out. Gina walked by acknowledged Mabel and she said my she is very excited. I replied yes yes labs are :( that's something I can't correct but we are late for class as I'm checking out. She gave me a funny look and walked on. I get back to the training ring and I'm all smiles and I say which end is the entrance?  She stopped me right there.

Conversation went like this:

Gina: can I help you?

Me: yea we're here for class which end is the entrance? :) ( me all smiles )

G: what's your dog's name?

M: Mabel

G: ( still not letting me into the circle) how old is she?

M: Umm 6 months ( again not thinking to just say 7)

G: oh well this is for adults and she should really be in a puppy 2. 

M: I said the day I paid for this class I spoke to sandy who is now store manager and she said Mabel was more than old enough to join Adult 1. 

G: well we already have 6 people and 5 is full and so you could look into joining another class. 

M: no the class was not full when I signed up and paid for it or Sandy would have said that. Funny thing on the 24th I forgot what time the class started so when I whipped in to grab a calender I noticed that someone had wrote on all of them (full) the class was not full when I enrolled her! 

G: ( turns to the other customers who are waiting and asks them) is it OK with everyone if she joins the class? Are you ok with that?

(Everyone just looked at each other with puzzled looks as if to say do we have the right to decide that? )

I am so mad at this point that 1. She in front of everyone asked for their permission for me to join a class that I paid for! I do not need permission when I paid 89.99 with the start date being January 25th. I enter the circle and take a seat. To my right is a husky. To my left a golden retriever. Gina then gets a sheet of paper out to pass around to everyone to write down their name dogs age and phone number. Before she handed it around she made a comment that hit me as her being a b***h. She says " normally I can only fit 5 people on this sheet but 6 at most so with 7 of you we will just have to make due." In a tone :( how rude! I wanted to get up from my seat and ask for my money back and say ya know what Gina you have made it very clear you don't want us here and that I am not welcomed. I was almost in tears. Hormones so I fought back. And told myself don't be ridiculous! She asks the owner to my right with the husky how old he is. Owner replies he's 7months.

NOT one d*** word about him being 7 months and in an adult 1 level!! I get the sheet to fill out and it is a blank piece if printer paper!! Really? Only 6 people find on here? Now I know she was just being a b***h!  Also that dog kept being aggressive towards my dog and she didn't do anything about it. When Mabel was in puppy 1 when she would try to "play" with the only puppy in that class and it was so tiny compared to Mabel the puppy would yipe and Sandy would swoop in to take Mabel away and hold her in like a time out. To teach Mabel to be gentle or not to be mean. Few times of that Mabel learned to let the Little puppy be and she waited for her to walk to her. 

I got frustrated with the entire thing so I started to say out loud Mabel leave it or you're going to get your face ripped off. Mabel is very smart and listened on a dime to everything I told her. 

Finally training begins!!! YAY what do we learn in adult 1??? I'm soo curious :)

It is the exact same s**t Mabel learned in puppy 1. Come, sit, name game. Mabel has that mustered as she should she is 7 months old!!! I was so disappointed.  All the other dogs didn't know this stuff. Mabel is already further advanced than the 6 other dogs here. We still did it. Only thing that's beneficial is she is having to follow my commands with all these distractions because in puppy 1 we were the only ones in it other than that shitzu puppy. 

FAST FORWARD TO THE NEXT CLASS.

I had a shower to attend so my husband took Mabel. Which was nice because when it comes to Mabel I am the alpha and my husband is such a softy he needed to work with her more. 

Today's class February 8th 2014 

Went over sit, come, leave it.

Mabel again already did this in puppy 1.

When it got time to learn "leave it" my husband dropped the treat told Mabel to leave it in a calm yet stern voice and she did. Gina told him he would need to dance and get her to stay away from it and that she won't understand at all at first. He kicked the treat to Mabel again said Leave it, Mabel wouldn't touch it. DUH she is worked with. Again advanced! Then she told my husband that he wasn't telling her to leave it properly. Umm we tell her to leave it just fine we already know this you can say leave it across the room and she will not touch it. I trained her so well that you can leave a treat in the middle of the room tell her to "leave it" and walk to the bathroom or kitchen or bedroom and she will not touch it. Again smart and worked with!

Then the long leash thing she does where you train your dog to come to your voice every 3 isles down and get them to ignore all other distractions and just go to you. Mabel knows come and she does it well. When 1st learning this you want to be excited and that's a 1st step into getting them to find you. My husband said Mabel come really loud but wasn't excited or ridiculous acting like you need to be when you first start teaching them come. Gina said you have to act happy!!! He said I am,But she knows this already and she knows it well.  She came right to him every time. She kept telling him he was calling her wrong. 

Overall I hate this trainer I miss Sandy. Gina is rude and disrespectful. I really want to drop her from the class but my husband says no it will be good for Mabel still to be around all them other dogs. But don't drop her out of it we already paid for it. He observed that Gina is someone who thinks she holds power with her title of "Dog Trainer" I am so frustrated with how we have been treated in adult 1. I will never have Gina Again.
