Thank you all so much for your reports. Believe me, I feel for you, but I hope you can take a little comfort in the fact that you have saved people like me from the same kind of suffering you have gone through.

I was called this morning by a woman from Premier Savings. We had only gotten to her questions about whether I've made any late payments, gone bankrupt or had a repossession in the last two years. (I guess they finally wised up about asking that before they made promises.) She told me about the 9% APR, and I was eager to learn more. Unfortunately, I inadvertently cut her off. I was disappointed that she did not call back.

Interestingly, a different representative called me this evening. He asked how far we had gotten in the conversation, and I told him. I was left with the definite impression that THEY were going to do the work. In fact, I was "already approved" for a lower interest rate. I told him I wanted to check the company out first. He told me to go onto the BBB site, and that there was ONE complaint there, but that had been taken care of. I asked him what the transfer balance fee was, because that's what I assumed he was talking about: consolidating my credit cards into one. He let me believe that, and told me that the fee was $279. That is a whole lot of money. Of course, he told me what I would save in interest over the years. He also told me that if the first three banks didn't accept me, I would get 60% of the $279, but that if all six rejected me, they would still keep 40%, since THEY were doing all the work.

He is supposed to call tomorrow night, but since I came to this wonderful site, I called and left a message NOT to call me, and to put me on their DO NOT PHONE list. This way, if they call I can threaten them with legal action. I sure don't want to be called 5 times a day by these people, the way some of you have been.

Once again, thank you so much for your stories. I am so sorry that you had such an awful experience, and I thank you for sparing me from it. (I, too, am a single mother on SS disability.)
