I purchased a 20 Year Term Life insurance policy and was rated because of my height and weight. I expected that. When looking at the schedule of premiums (that start increasing in 20 years), I added them up; For a $250,000 term policy, the total amount of scheduled premiums I would pay by age 95 totaled up to $1.2 million. That money would better be spent on investing in a 401k and an individual IRA. Think about it: Would you buy a $250,000 home for $1.2 million? Their own materials state they replace approximately 24% of all insurance policies. Why replace your existing insurance? Primerica should be ENHANCING your insurance needs with their products, not REPLACING it.

Lucky, I'm within the 20 day "Free Look" period, so I sent it back for cancellation and will get my initial premium back.

Addressing Paul (Brooklyn)

AUTHOR: Stuart - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Friday, September 15, 2006

I see you're finally back from your Las Vegas vacation.

Regarding Sean's post I believe he was speaking hypothetically about the age 95.

You're pointing out something I posted before which is term insurance isn't designed for retirement purposes. That's as far as we agree. However you've made two statements which I'm disputing:

"NO ONE NEEDS INSURANCE AT 95." The average age people live to in the US is 80. Burial costs can be covered by the right kind of insurance (but not term in this scenario). While this is a common example for life insurance, there are others for people who retire.

"We are full service financial coaches." Crimerica
disputes this in their disclosure which I quote:

"Representatives are not financial planners, investment advisors, financial consultants or other specialists who provide financial advice and whose compensation may be unrelated to sales."

Paul says "NO ONE NEEDS insurance til 95"

How do you know Paul? If you wanted to say "most likely you won't need insurance until age 95" I';d agree with you....however you newbies actually believe all that crap primerica puts out about NO ONE needing insurance til 95. Lopts of people NEED insurance til 95. Ninety percent
don't but thats a far cry from NO ONE.

The thing is Paul, a lot of people WANT insurance til age 95. They vary from little old ladies who want a $7,000 burial policy to really rich people who want some income tax free cash to come immediately to the spouse without having to go through trusts, probates, etc....

The Theory of Decreasing Responsibility is just that.....a Theory. It assumes life will go in a straight line with no curves or surprises along the way. It rarely happens like that. Term insurance with a GOOD conversion option for the "just-in-cases" of life is a good way to go for most people...but not all.

Why do you want insuarnce until 95!!

AUTHOR: Paul - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Friday, September 15, 2006

Sean, you do not give your current age. But We NERVER recommend insurance into the late years. The reason is simple. We are full service financial coaches. We will provide insurance AND investment/retiremnet options. NO ONE NEEDS INSURANCE AT 95. Only the ripoff, greedy agents will sell you next to worthless cash value policies into the 90's.

Be very careful.

Check out one of the major websites of term life
insurance. Primerica term is expensive to begin with but they in the past they have been especially tough on height and weight issues. many companies have much looser underwriting standards.

If you're looking for insurance to last until age 95 you might want to check out a universal life policy with a guaranteed no-lapse provision instead. Companies are more lenient in their underwriting on universal life then they are on term insurance.

I'd give you the names of specific companies that are real good on weight but the editors here won't allow it. I can give you a hint. Douglas MacArthur was a famous ______________ General.

Another hint for a different company good on weight issues would be the initial of the football league that the NFL drove under in the 1980s.

Finally, a third company good on weight issues is a company called United of _______________ (biggest city in Nebraska)
