I went to RK even though I work for another dealership because they had the used vehicle I wanted at the price I wanted. Wanting to trade in my 6 month old Jeep Wrangler for a Chevrolet Avalanche, I knew I was going to have a lot of negative equity, but I had no clue what I was in store for.

Initially everything went fine and we were able to come to an agreement on a price. It was very late at night and we needed to put our baby to bed, so we agreed to come back to get the Avalanche cleaned at a later date since it was very dirty. As with any "new" vehicle owner, the next morning we proudly cleaned it ourselves, waxed it, treated the leather seats, and had it sparkling.

A month later we received a phone call from RK asking us to return to the store because "a few papers were misplaced" and we needed to sign new ones. Confused we arrived back at the store only to find the new numbers were not what we originally agreed upon. We pulled out our copies of the original paperwork only to discover the salesperson did not complete them correctly and therefore were void. Trying to raise our monthly payment over $100 a month, we argued with the salesperson for an hour before requesting the manager.

The sales manager made a comment of how I worked for a local dealership and asked if I ever thought about working for RK. Considering I was disgusted with RK at this point, I declined. Walking away from his office both my husband and I overheard him tell a salesperson, "If I can get her to work here it will be a lot easier to get in her pants!" Trying to prevent my husband from going to jail for wiping the floor with this guy, I demanded to void the whole deal and get our Jeep back (even though I REALLY wanted the Avalanche) just so we could get out of there and not have to deal with them again.

I followed the salesperson out to the lot to find my Jeep. When we got there, they had put teal colored pinstripes and flames down the side and on the hood - THIS IS A KHAKI COLORED 6 MONTH OLD JEEP!! The vehicle was still dirty (they hadn't even washed it) and the interior was exactly how I left it. Our military stickers were still on the front and there was still my trash in the console from when I had it a month ago. They had this thing sitting on their lot with a sale sign in the window for a month and the only thing they did to it was put incredibly ugly stickers on it! We told them to take the stickers off and the guy started coming at the Jeep with a razor blade!!!

Furious, we said we'd do it ourselves and just wanted to leave. We went back in the office to get our keys and they (GET THIS) tried to charge us for the bed of the Avalanche having leaves in it. Remember, we took this truck from them dirty, and washed it, waxed it, treated the leather, etc. We finally got out of there and went home.

Two months later we received a phone call from the bank saying they were going to repossess our Avalanche for non-payment. We officially never even owned this thing!!! Not to mention, we never stopped making payments on the Jeep! Come to find out, RK had told the bank the Avalanche was sold to us and we owed the money, not them! After having our lawyer contact them, they finally backed off.

Looking back, I should have taken them to court and sued them for everything. But they had me so upset I just wanted to leave. I know how dealerships work. I have worked in this industry for years. I have never in my life been as frusterated and angry as I was with RK. Reading the other complaints about them, I now see this is typical behavior for the RK Auto Group.

PLEASE go anywhere else other than RK. Go directly to my competitors, just don't buy anything from RK. If they were giving out brand new vehicles for a penny I would not take it. They are scam artists and sexist pigs. Read the other reports. Research them on other websites. This is how they work.

We Want To Satisfy You

AUTHOR: Tom - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Wednesday, May 31, 2006

Dear Jennifer,

Since your posting, we have spent considerable time researching your concerns. We have attempted to find out about the transaction that you described. This is important to us because we want to internally troubleshoot if anyone has made a mistake or an error. Also, we have many employees and neither of your postings contained any names.

We have researched back to last year, and we have no evidence of an Avalanche transaction as you have described. Also, we have not paid any vendor for teal colored pinstripes and flames down the side and on the hood of any Jeep. Please help me, Jennifer, as I want to get this right, but I cannot without more information.

If my research is erroneous, I would like to know so that I can get to the bottom of this situation. Also, I would like to apologize to you.

Jennifer, we are one of the largest dealers in the state of Virginia and have been satisfying customers for over four decades.

I know that I can satisfy you if I am given the opportunity.

Further, I stand ready to listen and to learn from what you have to say.

I would be glad to listen to your thoughts and take them to heart. I am open and willing to communicate with you. To show you my sincerity, I will meet you at a place and time that is convenient to you.

My direct dial number is 431-6507. My office hours are 6:30 AM to 5:30 PM Monday through Friday.

I hope I hear from you.

Sincerely,

Tom Kline

Here's a thought.......

Maybe instead of searching this website constantly and trying to reverse any sort of discrepancies people might have with your company, maybe you should try to educate your employees on proper business practice at the beginning.

The answer is not trying to solve the problem, the answer is not having a problem to begin with. At my company we train our salespeople first before sticking them out on the lot. We train our managers even more than our salespeople. Every employee goes through extensive sexual harrassment classes and continuing education courses throughout their employment. Issues arise - we all know this. But if your employees know how to handle the situation when it first arises, you lower your chance of having disgruntled customers walk out the door.

Customers are the reason you have a job. They are your "bread and butter". Every person who walks on your lot (no matter what their age, sex, race, ethnicity, financial position, or religion) should be treated with the utmost respect and appreciation just for considering your company. RK could be huge if it wasn't for your poor customer service. That is the only thing holding you back. Maybe that should be the topic of your next manager's meeting.

At my company, we are a part of a 64 dealership chain in numerous states and are in the TOP 5 LARGEST AUTOMOTIVE DEALERSHIP COMPANIES IN AMERICA. Why do you suppose it is that you can't find our company on this website with any complaints against it? Customer service.

I don't want your apology. I don't want you to try to rectify the situation. It's too late for that. I want you to fire your entire staff and hire people who know what they are doing. Train them. Train them well. I guarantee your customers will appreciate it. And I guarantee you will see your sales go through the roof.

Just a thought.....
