I pirchased a red leather sectional, with sales taxes the total was almost $1700. The unit is about 5 years old. It has been in a formal living room, out of the sun, and hardly ever sat on.

The leather just started to peel. In sheats. I called RTG, they would do nothing. They told me leather was only supposed to last 5 years. I told them tell that to the cow that use to wear it. Their help, was to give me a $300 credit towards a new couch.I would not buy anything from them ever again.

I spoke with many different people trying to get this resolved to no avail. They do not care. One woman that worked their actually told me she would not mind having that couch in her living room! '

Amen!

These large corporations have no idea how powerful our words can be. As a real estate agent you have a fantastic platform. I own hair salons, which also gives me a great platform. I am the guy with the red leather sectional that was peeling like a sunburn.

I have found instead of fighting with these companies for what is "CUSTOMER DIS=SERVICE", why waist my energy when they are clearly not going to do anything. I can get far more done with my words out in the world. RTG ended up refunding me my money. With this gesture of good will, I have gone back and puchased a new mattress and box spring. A "Sleep Nature" hybrid gel and memory foam bed. IT IS WONDERFUL!

It was delivered, they unpackaged it, and you have to wait 24 hours for it to fill back out. Mine did ot. After 30 hours I called, expecting a fight. I have to say how wrong I was. I was put on hold briefly, when the gemtlemen returned to the line, he asked what day would be convenient for a new bed to be delivered? OUT OF THIS WORLD! Bown away. RTG is now my new favorite store. This is customer service! I would still not buy inexpensive leather furniture, ANYWHERE,  but they have decent quality furniture. You have to remember, you get what you pay for. In my own defense, my red leather sectional was on sale for $1700, marked down from $2400, which I do not consider inexpensine for the time.

But anyhow, keep on talking about how Kane's dissed you. Sooner or later, they will wise up. The power of words is the best!!!

To the dude who thought I was being ridiculous about my complaint, HOW DOES IT FEEL TO EAT YOUR WORDS? TASTY?? HOW MANY THOUSANDS THAT HAVE NOW FILED FORMAL COMPLAINTS,  a class action lawsuit, not to mention all the websites created to deal with this problem. I hope you did not choke on your words, I would feel bad if you did! NOT!

Started peeling a long time ago

AUTHOR: Matt - ()

POSTED: Monday, August 26, 2013

Yes the couch is now 5 years old, but it started peeling a long time ago. I just came across this site and posted it.  Regardless, leather should last more than a couple years. The last leather couch I had lasted almost 25 years and then it only cracked. Which is normal. What is happening to this couch is not natural or normal, it was sold to me as top grade leather. And yes, for the type of problem this is, I would expect RTG to help. I have seen 4 other couches on Craigs List with the same problem in the past 6 months. They were being sold for what the people could get for them.

Sounds to me like you work for RTG. And even if you don't, if it were your $1700 I am sure you would be singing a much different tune.

Here's what I found about your "leather" sofa...

AUTHOR: Ken - ()

POSTED: Saturday, August 24, 2013

This is from Rooms To Goes website...

"Upholstery 60% vinyl, 22% cotton, 18% leather"

Looks like it should have been advertised as "Vinyl" with a little leather.

This would appear to be a recipe for failure.

Dont you think...

AUTHOR: Tyg - ()

POSTED: Saturday, August 24, 2013

Dont you think that after 5 YEARS you are asking too much out of them? ANY warrenty that the manufacturer would have ANY legal obligation to honor ends at one year. I mean its been atleast over 1800 days since your purchase. After that one year is up, thats all that ANY manufacturer gets for a time frame. THEY DID NOT USE YOUR COUCH!!! How exactly can you expect them to take any responsability for a couch 4 years past the time they could do anything. Its highly unrealistic actually. Its also the highth of self entitlment to even ASSUME that they would do anything for you. Even your asking them to do anything is a huge slap in thier face.

They had no control over its use or where it has been kept. They had no control over the enviroment it was kept in. Nor did they have any control of who sat on it. They had no responsability in the couches maintenence. Useing such products as leather cleaner or conditioner. Are you starting to understand yet?? These are all incidents that is completly under the consumers control.
