I was sold on Sears' promise of exceptional, satisfisfaction garuntee work. So, I bit the bullet and agreed to redo my bathroom. The salesman was very nice and made me feel comfortable that the finished product would look great and if I was not satified, they would redo it until I was.

It took them two days to complete my small bathroom remodel (which was what they told me). When I returned home from work on the second day, I went in to admire my new bathroom. First thing I noticed was that I caught my toe on the tile. After inspecting the tile, I found that all of the tiles were uneven. After doing research on the web, I found out that the industry standard for height differences in tile is about the height of a dime.

After doing the dime test, credit card test, and measuring the differences between the tile, I found out that all but 3 of the tiles were uneven. (This is not how my old tile was, so I know it was not because of my floor being uneven. And even if it was, the installers should have leveled that out, according to the saleman.) The thing that makes me mad is that at some point during grouting, they must have seen how uneven the tile was and said "screw it". It was literally so bad that I, having not known anything about tile flooring, noticed right away that it was a terrible installation.

Ok, so great, my new floor tiles were uneven. Just one mistake. Not bad. Right? NO. After looking further at the work these "so called professionals" did, I found that their caulking job was a complete disaster around my tub and surrounding walls. There were holes in some ares, uneven lines, and in some spots the caulk was bubbling out almost like it was being pushed. This was complete crap. I am a 22 year old female whose never used caulk before and I could have done a better job.

The things they promised that would be done (like anchoring my pedastal sink to the wall), were not done.

The shutoff valves for both the toilet and the sink were leaking!

There are holes in the floor boards where the tile connected to the wall.

The fixtures in the tub (shower head, faucet, and handle) are crooked.

The grout between some tiles was loose and crumbling away.

OH, and how can i forget that after I used the shower there was a big puddle of water on the other side of the wall where the shower head was!

So I was left with a complete crap job that was worse then when they started. And I paid a lot of money for this!

I told the Sears employee what was wrong, and he seemed like he cared and was going to fix everything. I did tell him that I thought the whole thing should be ripped out and redone. He obviously didnt want to do that. I asked him if the same people would be coming out to do the work, and he told me no.( Which is strange to me, because I came to find out that he was working with the original contractor.)

So, I had them come out for another try at this remodel. The shower no longer leaks, most tiles are not as crooked as before. Although, I can still catch my toe on several corners. The caulking job was covered up. And the shower leak was fixed. I dont know if it was the same people or not who came back to redo it.

So now Im left with a 6000 dollar job where I have two different colors of caulk, crooked tub fixtures, uneven tiles, and not to mention an indent in the wall where they had to cut out the drywall to get to the shower head pipe. I have chipped paint where they redid the caulk. No pipe covers under the sink. And I have a tub that makes a loud poping noise after every time I use the shower.

(To be fair, I guess I should mention that the contractors did offer to paint the bathroom where they stripped the paint. I told them I would do it because, honestly, I didnt want them coming back to my home.)

And when I talk to the Sears people, they are really good at seeming like they care. Afterall, they promise 100% satisfaction. But when it comes down to it, they dont care at all. Whatever to make their money. I understand it a business and business is all about the bottom line. Thats not a bad thing, I get it.  But if you promise the best service and quality in the industry, maybe you should atleast try to honor your word.

Overall, I am still not very happy with Sears Home Improvements and will never, ever use them again for anything concerning my home.
