Startmart sending check instantly without authorization, failure to do work or return keys consumer rip-off fraud Portland Oregon

I was told by this company that they could install my alternator the same day 04/18/02. The service estimate gave a price and I agreed to it.

After starting the job, they said they had to keep my van to wait for parts and I told them no-- I wanted to take it home.

I told them to put it back together and I would take it somewhere else. They did this and then wanted to charge me 47.50 for labor. I told them I wasn't paying and they refused to give me my keys.

I then wrote them a check for 47.50 and they wanted me to authorize it to go instantly through my account and I refused. I finally took my van home without the keys. They ran my check right through the bank anyway.

When I gave them the check for 47.50 they gave me another receipt stating they had the right to keep the vehicle 72 hours as needed. This was not on the original contract.
They have my 47.50 and they still have my keys with keys to mine and my son's homes.
