So in Feb 2014, found and paid for a 'last' floor model recliner at Steinhafels Madison, Beltline location. Item was to be made available for pickup after 24 hours.

Upon attempted pickup, it was discovered that the item was damaged and pickup was refused and paperwork was marked with 'not delivered due to concealed damage' and signed for by the warehouse man. I at no time signed for anything. I was further told by this warehouse man that I had to call the 800 customer service number for refund as inventory showed this was the actual last item.

I called the very next day, was told they would look to confirm whether any more were available (none were, told to me in a call 9 days later). In this 9 days later call, I was told by Waukesha corporate customer service that I would be refunded within 30 days. Well, here we are 5 months past the '30 days later refund window' and still no refund.

I tried disputing through my bank who said too much time has gone by and window for that has closed. I tried going directly to the store manager and up the corporate ladder, but each and every time I have been told 'they're not doing anything for me' and now change their reasoning to 'I have the chair'. I do not have the chair, and it is in their warehouse man's own writing and with his signature that says and confirms I never got the chair.

Bottom Line is . . . if one googles 'Steinhafel Complaints' . . . one is greeted with thousands of complaints of against this company and it's practices and dealings with customers.

I am going to spend money and time and sue these people ($589.00). They are STEALING from way too many.

Read the nightmareish stories on them, look at all the ways in which they lay claim to 'right' to cheat you (the consumer) . . . and stay away. Spend your hard earned dollars at a legitimate and honest Furniture Store (there are many).

Do Not Allow Yourself to become Victim to Steinhafels and their unfair practices and dealings; and Outright Thieving !!!
