It started about 6 months ago when my Norton anti virus that came with my computer sent a pop-up that said "Upgrade your Norton utility..FREE"
I clicked on it thinking fine. Then it said I had to pay AND my existing Norton utility would now stop working. I was really pissed off. I did not purchase the damned thing. Instead I purchased another company's product.
I thought no more about this incident until yesterday when I received an e-mail telling me that my credit card had been billed for an automatic subscription renewal.
Now how could that happen? Answer: 2 years ago I did purchase a Symantec product for my previous computer.
I was really angry. I tried to send an e-mail but they have no e-amil address on their web site. The only way to get through was to sit on the phone for half an hour until the representative came on the line. I gave her the billing number I had been send by e-mail and told her I would take this to litigation unless they returned my money. She obviously had many people phoning and she said she would do that.
The scam is that Symantec relies on people giving up with trying to contact them. They are seriously a crooked organization. ADVICE - NEVER DO BUSINESS WITH SYMANTEC -- Notice their head office is Dublin, Ireland so they outside US law

So you admit you signing up for their product two years ago? I would go back and read the contract you agreed to when you purchased it. If you agreed to the recurring billing then this is completely legitimate.
