In November 2004 I bought the I-PAC from T-Mobile so I could access my Yahoo e-mail account and my bank account while on a trip to Europe in December 2004. After about $200+ of international calls to T-Mobile support I found out that with the I-PAC you cannot access any secured websites and therefore, not my yahoo e-mail nor my bank account. Therefore it is borderline useless. The only reason I bought the I-PAC was to access these websites while I was oversees. As I was trying to return the I-PAC and cancel my service, I was told I have exceeded the 14 days of redemption period and on top of it I have to pay $200 penalty to cancel the internet account, for the service I cannot even use. I only ordered the Internet service from T-Mobile because they provided service in Germany while I was there. T-Mobile never explained me the internet limitation when I bought it, in fact it took several oversee calls to T-Mobile support to find out about the terrible shortcoming of the I-PAQ. Even their support was not aware of this problem, until I spoke to several different people in their support department. They said, they heard of the availability of a patch, which solves this problem, but cannot tell me where to find it. So, I am out $1000 (Including the oversee support toll calls) for a piece of equipment, which does not work as I had anticipated. Most websites today have security requirements, so why sell a piece of equipment, which does not access 99% of the sites. I think T-Mobile should take back this useless piece of equipment and refund me the $534.99 I spend on the equipment, cancel my contract without penalty and refund me the money I had to spend on toll calls and service access.
