The information provided in this report below is based on comments made by Howard Tanner during an onsite inspection held by a third-party verification company with no biases towards Tanner & Ortega, L.L.P.

Tanner & Ortega is a law firm that specializes in complex criminal defense litigation, federal, state, personal injury, labor unemployment, and other types of civil litigation. Howard Tanner stated the following about his company, "we have been in business since 1998 and we are a full-service law firm that caters to the customer service needs of our client, but we are always mindful of our responsibility to treat everyone's case as the most important case."

Leads for Tanner & Ortega are primarily obtained through referrals from former clients, "we find that we get a lot of business from clients who are satisfied with our services that they refer us to friends, family, and acquaintances that need legal assistance." He additionally explained the sales and services process for Tanner & Ortega, "first they would call us for a free telephone consultation. We would get some background on their case and see if whether or not the facts of their case is something we can help them with. 9 times out of 10 it is. We would then follow up with an office appointment if appropriate and we would go over in more detail the options for the clients what they could expect as far as the process the legal process and we walk them through… if it was a criminal case we would walk them through the criminal justice process from the courts to the trial process. If it is a personal injury case if the client were too injured or could not make it to our office we would go out to them either at the hospital or their residence to go through the entire process with them as well."



CUSTOMER CARE & COMPLAINT RESOLUTION – TANNER & ORTEGA, L.L.P.

Mr. Tanner was asked to describe their escalation process for potential complaints, "if there is an issue that needs to be addressed that we cannot address with a simple phone call we invite the client to come in to speak with me personally as the managing partner of the firm. I would address their concerns no matter what the area is. Sit down with them one on one and make sure to address the particular concern and make sure that the client understands. It's hard for me to imagine this because it really hasn’t happened. But if it did happen we would bring the client in and address their concerns and make sure that they understood what our process was and why we took the actions we did because it is always to the benefit of the client and if he didn't we would make it right with him."

When asked to comment on the complaints made on Ripoff Report's website Mr. Tanner stated the following, "The Ripoff Report claims against us was a person who a former client who made up the reports and was arrested and convicted in federal court for cyberstalking and is sentenced. The person who the guy that wrote those reports did them he is a former client he wrote them up fictitiously under false names. There were 4 reports he did along with numerous other reports around the internet. We sort of knew who he was we knew who he was because I could just tell. I alerted the authorities to it this is apparently not the only party he had done this to. We went to the authorities, he was arrested by the FBI and prosecuted in Federal Court for cyber stalking identity theft against us, he wrote admissions admitting to authoring the Ripoff Report among other things falsely against us. And despite that Ripoff Report it is their policy not to take stuff down most of the other websites did it voluntarily. He was prosecuted by the US Attorney's Office of the Southern District of NY, convicted, and was sentenced in Federal Court and the horrible and malicious things he said against us are provably untrue and he admitted they are untrue. They are absolutely made up. Some of the stuff that he said that we did to these so-called clients we don't even cover those areas of law."

Editor’s Comment:  06/03/2017 -Ripoff Report believes in transparency and the more information the better.  In this instance, there has been court action regarding this subject Report.  We believe it important to note that not all Court Orders are alike.  Many court orders are absolutely legitimate and we make no representations about this court order situation However, we want our users to be aware that sometimes courts enter orders based upon default which typically means that the defendant didn’t show up.  Sometimes a defendant won’t show up because they didn’t even get notice of the case proceedings in the first place and other times defendants may not show up because they don’t necessarily have the knowledge and/or the financial resources to fight.  Still, in other instances, a defendant may simply appear only to stipulate (settle) the case by agreeing to stipulate to a court order because they are being bullied by the plaintiff and whether what they said was true or not, they just want the matter to go away so they can move on with life and make the plaintiff go away.  Again, we make no representations about this particular court order situation.  We are simply providing you with additional information so that you may be more informed and, coupled with any additional research you feel is necessary, may make your own informed decision regarding the validity of this Report.  As always, we encourage our readers to do their homework and not just rely on one single source for information.  Google, through the Lumen Database, has provided the following document relating to this subject Report:

Hired Howard Tanner Esq. of Tanner & Ortega LLP, 30 Vesey St, Manhattan, for a legal proceeding. 

I paid him in full and was waiting for my day in court but, now, he has closed his office and supposedly went bankrupt. 

I desperately need to hire another lawyer but can not find Howard Tanner for a refund.

I spoke with the building's janitor named 'Hugo Gabriel' and he said Howard Tanner Esq. went out of business and he moved to Miami Beach, Florida.  

I am out a total of $3,000 dollars. This lawyer should have contacted me before he split town. 

THIS LAWYER IS SNEAKY AND UNETHICAL.

I am Howard Tanner, attorney and partner in Tanner & Ortega. My partner, Hugo Ortega, and I have been practicing law for over 26 years and established our firm 18 years ago, in 1998. In all of those years of practice, we have NEVER had any client file any complaint or grievance with any legal bar association nor file any malpractice lawsuit against us. The allegation anonymously posted here with a fake anonymous username is patently false. As you can imagine, this cowardly person attacking us anonymously on the internet, has caused us harm and distress. We need to set the record straight. He shows no signs of stopping this obsessive and immoral behavior. We will fight this as hard we fight for each and every one of our clients, but in an ethical way. If this person was a real client with a complaint, he would contact us to resolve the issue. We still invite him to do so.

 

For the past several weeks, our cyber investigation has confirmed that one person, who remains anonymous and conceals his online identity with fake usernames, targeted us with an online campaign of malicious, defamatory and completely fabricated complaints, profiles and comments, such as this one. A quick google search of us will result in hits for “scam lawyers”, “lawyers that steal your money”, that are “out of business” , “bankrupt”, “alcoholics”, "racists" “taco makers” and  “male underwear models”, etc. We have had the cooperation from many legitimate websites to delete this obviously false and defamatory garbage. However, this site refuses to delete the complaint no matter how clear the evidence is that it is false.

 

"Jamal W"  "Shaquana", "ex-employee", "Franklin35" and other anonymous usernames are the same pathetic and mentally ill person posting this nonsense multiple times on this website and others. We are obviously still in business, AS WE HAVE BEEN FOR 18 YEARS. And we are at the SAME OFFICE FOR THE LAST 15 YEARS. There is no janitor named "Hugo Gabriel". I guess that is meant to be a racist slur against my partner, Hugo Gabriel Ortega. You truly need help.

This is Howard Tanner. Of course, this "complaint" is FALSE. We have never practiced nor represented any client in any immigration case. Click on the attachments from official NY State Attorney Registration records attached in our initial rebuttal above, confirming we have NEVER HAD A COMPLAINT OR GRIEVANCE FROM ANYONE IN 28 YEARS, and that Hugo is an admitted attorney since 1988, not a paralegal. Once again, "Shaquana" and "ex-employee" are the same sick and pathetic person posting all over this website and others. Hey "Shaquana" or "ex-employee" or whatever your next anonymous username is, anyone that reads your posts will know that you are mentally ill and need help.
