Dec. 30, 2014

I got an email on Dec. 9,2014 from Natural News (I subscribe to their news letters and read it on Dec.11, 2014) that had an offer titled Most controversial healing book in America - The End of ALL Disease - 202 copies FREE - limited time  (As of this writing, I just pulled up the email again and there are now 404 books left. It automaticlly keeps changing) idn't today like a dummy).the$49 was fo

I study natural health and wanted to see what the book was about. The only charge for the free book was the shipping of $5.95 so I requested a copy.  On the page that you fill out your address info, it states at the bottom Plus you'll also receive our FREE email newsletter which includes tons of great pain relief and health boosting articles, videos and more.

After I gave my credit card info for the shipping and clicked to enter, there was an offer to try their Rub on Reliefand Heal N Soothe products.  I clicked on the page's red X to leave the offer and it said WAIT.  All I had to do is pay shipping of $1.99 to try these products for free.  My son had just pulled his back out so I figured for just $1.99 more I would see if it worked. I clicked to try that and the recap page of my order stated the 2 shipping charges, the free book, the 2 free products, the CD packet (not video as stated above), and a month free of the news letter and then after that they would charge me for it unless I called to cancel it. They falsely advertised as FREE.

When I received my order the invoice had 7 items listed on it (the book, Rub on Relief, Heal N Soothe, the CD set with the Trial to Live Pain Free News Letter and a bunch of information instructions).  What it DIDN'T show is a single amount of what they charged me which I thought was odd for an invoice.

I decided to check my bank statement online (this was Tuesday last week Dec. 23) and I saw 3 charges from The Healthy Back Institute - the $5.95 and $1.99 shipping charges and a charge for $49.00.  What in the world was that for?  I called them immediately.  I talked to a young lady who I explained the situation to and I asked what was the $49 charge for.  She didn't know and put me on hold.  When she returned, she said she talked to her supervisor who told her the charge was in error and they will refund that back to me, and would shortly send me an email stating what they had just told me.  I said ok and that was that - or at least I thought it was. (I did remember to cancel the newsletter and I did verbally tell my son what happened since he was the recipient of the Rub on Relief).

I never received any email so I followed up with a call today and got a man who said he was the top guy of supervisors in the customer service dept. (I always try to write names down but didn't today like a dummy). After explaining the whole situation again and saying I never got my email, he proceeded to tell me that is not how things are done, and that I ordered the products and was charged for them.  A second time he said the $49 was for the CD set. I told him I didn't order products or CD's either and that it just said it would be sent.  He said it would have given me a choice.  I said I would not have ordered anything for $49 dollars and no choice was given.  He didn't believe that the products were offered for free with just the cost of shipping and that there was absolutely nothing documented in my account that I had ever called before. He said if I wanted a refund I would have to pay to send them back.

WHAT A SCAM!!!  Watch your invoices and bank statements.  If there aren't any charges on it - BEWARE!  That is what triggered my checking my bank account and found the $49 charge.  I am not stopping here.  Always document everything - names, dates, time, what you said, what they said, tell several people.  Contact the BBB, the state Attorney General's Office, dispute it with your credit card company, and in this case Natural News will also hear from me.  I've been a Customer Service Manager for a major airline for a lot of years and I don't take stuff like this lying down.  I absolutely believe in honesty if you’re going to be in business, and it is obviously more important for them to be right than honest. They are completely dishonest.
