OCTOBER, 2011:  I ordered four tickets to the Peter Frampton Concert in St. Augustine, Florida for October 7th, online, via this Scam Internet Service.  I received my tickets, and was SHOCKED to see that each ticket price was really $79.00 on the tickets, but that TICKET LIQUIDATOR charged nearly THREE THOUSAND DOLLARS for four tickets (INCLUDING $430.68 for "FEES" and "Service Charges").  This smells of ticket scalping.  I am an educated professional person, with a Doctorate Degree, who will be contacting the Attorney General for the State of Florida to investigate the legal propriety of this transaction.

TL is an online ticket resale marketplace and openly advertises itself as such

AUTHOR: TicketLiquidator - (USA)

POSTED: Friday, October 07, 2011

Hello there! Thank you for your comments. I am an employee of TL who would be more than happy to answer your questions.

To begin with, it appears that there is a misunderstanding on two points

1) TL is an online marketplace, not an actual ticket seller ie: were a secure forum through which independent (but trusted) ticket-selling agencies can resell tickets to events. We at TL dont own, price, or ship tickets directly, nor are we in anyway related to (or have a say in) ticket pricing.

2) TL is a place where ticket sellers are re-selling (and thus re-pricing) tickets that they previously purchased from primary sources.  This means that most tickets on our website are going to be sold for above their face value. (Its nevertheless true that some 40% of tickets in the resale market are actually sold at or below face value. The NFL
experienced that very recently where tickets for events were going for as low as $2 each.)

Importantly, we at TL are not related to any venue, box office, or performer, nor do we claim to be related to them. We mention above every event listing (all 62,400+ of them) that We are a resale marketplace, not a box office or venue. We also mention Tickets may be above face value and provide an explanation of why this is so. We advertise our
status as a secondary market ticket exchange more openly than any competitors in order to keep customers as informed as possible about their ticket purchase.

On the pricing issue, I mentioned above that we at TL dont determine prices and see our role as being to give consumers more options for tickets. (The secondary market enables good tickets to events to remain on the market longer than usual and also enables consumers to access tickets they would otherwise be unable to access due to venues and event performers using secretive channels for sales of the best seats.)

Please also know that neither we nor our sellers have the ability to monitor ticket availability on a national level (not with 62,400+ event listings). So there was no concerted attempt to advertise tickets that were available elsewhere for a different price (if that is indeed the case which may not even be so). We at TL simply let sellers advertise tickets and let consumers choose whether or not to buy them. It would appear you were fine paying the price you did for your tickets at the time of the purchase.

Additionally, the service fees for ticket orders (which is what we at TL make off of the order) are advertised twice during the checkout process on 2 separate pages. Their presence is also mentioned above every event listing in the "Lowdown."

Of course, were all sorry for your unhappiness with the tickets, but it appears that your anger is more about a misunderstanding than about any concerted wrongdoing on anyones part. I nevertheless hope you enjoy the event!
