This happened in 2005. I went to Toyota of El Cajon just to look at getting a new truck.  I had a sales Representative approach me and ask how can I help you?  Asked him if they had any Tacoma X-Runners in stock.  He said yes and took me over to the used car lot.  I saw a very pretty 2004 speedway blue x-runner with 9,000 miles on it.  I have been eyeing one of these for a while now since the new body style came out in 2004.  Test drove it, and fell in love.  Asked the price and he said $27,000.  I said too much but he said come in and we will run the numbers.

So we went back and forth with the numbers for probably about 3-4 hours just because they came back with a rediculous amount the first time of like 750 a month!!!  Kept saying no cant afford it but they kept on saying ok let me go check.  So after this they finally came back with a resonable amount for me.  During this whole process I was wondering how much a new x-runner cost's and they kept saying oh probably about the same amount after the fee's.  So I took their word for it and bought the truck.

That same night I decided to do a little research about the price I got and it turned out that a new toyota tacoma x-runner at the time was $24,000.  Needless to say I was a little pissed about this, especially since they told me the price would be the same or even more expensive!

I came back the next day to talk to the sales manager I dealt with.  He kept telling me oh we got you an awesome deal and this truck is one of a kind, and dont you like it?  I asked how can a new truck be cheaper than a used truck?  He said the reason was because it was "certified" and the warranty extends to 100,000 miles.  To do this on a new car would cost you $3,000 extra on top of the price.  He even showed me print out of price quotes for used x-runners about the same price of what I paid.

It just doesnt seem right that a company can charge more for a used vehicle than a new one?!?! Dont vehicle values drop once you drive off the lot?  Not increase? and even if you can get away with charging more doesnt it just seem not ethically correct?  Toyota of El Cajon just doesnt get it and I tried re-financing my truck with them but they wouldnt have it.  So I just got what I could from them.  A set of new floor mats and a spare key.

Suffice it to say my business went elsewhere after this experience.

*David, Most Toyota managers are "sneaky", "deceptive", "manipulative", & "greedy" people. That's what the owners and operators of Toyota dealerships want in a manager because....

AUTHOR: Karl - (USA)

they believe that these are the elements necessary in order to make money on the sale of vehicles at Toyota dealerships in the USA.

Toyota Corporation does a lot of advertising to draw consumers into Toyota dealerships in the USA. It's a simple "numbers game". Toyota dealerships have been able to draw the largest number of customers into their dealerships over the past decade or so, and that has enabled the "sneaky", "deceptive", "manipulative", & "greedy", managers to TRICK many customers over the years.

It basically comes down to this: if you own or operate a car dealership in the USA, you have the opportunity to DEFRAUD as many unsuspecting consumers as possible because once a sales contract is SIGNED by the consumer, the dealership will almost always be in the clear.

If it ever goes to court, the fact that the customer signed the contract will over-ride everything else and the dealership will almost always prevail.

*The United States of America is a country whose economy THRIVES on deception, manipulation, & trickery.

If our economy was based on honesty, it would be nowhere near the size it currently is, or has been.

GUESS WHAT?

The U.S. economy 'Collapsed' in 2008 due to the 'way' business is conducted in America.

Not much has changed since September of 2008 when we experienced the 'Meltdown'. That's why I believe we'll experience another COLLAPSE sometime in the near future.
