Unitrin Direct Unitrin Direct Auto Insurance Debited my checking account when I did not sign any renewal form at the end of my contract. Scranton, Pennsylvania

My auto insurance contract was up for renwal on April 17.  When I received the renewal form I sent an email informing them that I was not renewing my contract.  On April 17 my checking account was debited for $241.25.  I ad already signed with Progressive at this point.  When I called Unitrin they told me that they could not give me a credit for 10 days and would mail me a check.  I proceeded to speak with a superior to plead for a faster way to receive my money back.  She told me to send proof of my checking statement by email and would mail me a check that day.  I then called to ensure that they received my email and was told that the check was already in the mail on the 20th of April.  On Monday April 25th I called to ask what happend with my check.  They informed me that the check was never sent and they never received an email from me.
One lie after another.  Chase bank was unaware I did not renew my contract and did not know that this was fraud.  How can these companies get away with stealing comsumer's money. 
I find this an outrage and I hope you do to!  Please help!
