VERIZON WIRELESS LIES,CHEATS,AND STEALS FROM A FAMILY OF DECORATED MILITARY VETERANS Atlanta, Georgia

My wife and I are both decorated veterans from the US ARMY. I served multiple tours in both Iraq and Afghanistan with the 160TH SOAR(A). My wife spent a year stationed in South Korea and finished her remaining service statseside. To keep this somewhat short and sweet, I have been in Afghanistan now since July 2010 working as contractor.

I am stuck in a forward operating base or FOB, with very limited communications aside from an Afghan cell phone and international Roshan service provider. Roshan is very expensive to use and service is intermittent given my austere location.

Text messaging my wife seemed to be the least expensive alternative as calling would use more of my Roshan minutes ( or AFGS, Afghani Seconds not minutes). We receieved a bill from Verizon who is our stateside service provider for an astronomical amount( over $300 ), and it was credited to international texts. Being unaware of the charges imposed for international text, my wife called to remedy the issue.

When my wife called to inquire about the international text charges, she was told by a customer representative supervisor, a supervisor mind you, that a $.25 charge is added for every international text sent and $.20 for every international text received. To alleviate our already massive mountain of bills, mostly being medical due to our 1 yr old daughter's heart surgery prior to my trip to Afghanistan and the reason I contacted home soo much, she asked about international text plans.

The supervisor then informed her that Verizon does offer international messaging plans, and would be happy to add it to our plan. That being done we continued to text eachother like highschoolers in love, free of any worry concerning ridiculous messaging charges, a dream short lived.

Our bill the following month, totaled over $900 and when my wife called to ask what was going on, they said " well you owe us $900 mostly coming from internations texts". My wife explained that a supervisor had added international messaging to the plan, and the customer representative on the other side responded with" ma'am, there is no such thing".

Come to find out, Verizon does not offer international text messaging plans and it is clearly stated on their webpage. So why would a supervisor ensure my wife that international messaging was applied to our account, and that in fact there was such a program? That is a good friggin question and one we have been trying to get answers to.

Verizon is refusing to accept any responsibility for the clerical error made by their so called " professionals". Since then, they have threatened us with collections, discontinued our service, and refused to work with us on the smallest scale to remedy the mix up. We have been loyal customers since 2008.

My wife now cannot call to schedule appointments with our daughters health care providers as she needs continous monitoring due to hear heart conditions. I am in Afghanistan and relatively helpless at my current location. I've called Verizon twice myself, and was hung up on once, and told there was nothing they could do until I paid the bill on the second call.

Verizon is stealing away the sustainment of comfortable living for thousands of Americans, by imposing moronic get rich schemes on average citizens. They do a song and dance to get your attention, and then sodomize your wallet when you are most vulnerable. They lie, cheat, and steal every dime they make.

Verizon Wireless is by far the worst cellular service provider in the United States to date.
