Having purchased a Walmart MoneyCard almost a year ago, I wouldn't have thought Walmart to even be close to a company stealing from its consumers so blatantly.
On Aug. 28, 2009 (I have all receipts to prove my claim) I loaded my money-card with $400.00 and paid the $3.00 (fee); I had planned to rent a car for the weekend. I had no problem from the car rental company.
On Sept. 2, 2009 I added an additional $200.00 to make a payment to my electric company. Upon returniing the vehicle I was overcharged. The car rental place reimbursed/reversed charges assessed to my Walmart MoneyCard along with the deposit that is required for the rental of any vehicle via a prepaid card.
As of today, these funds have NOT been placed back into my account and Walmart MoneyCard claims I owe them. Now, as ignorant as this company obviously shows - I have a record of their daily CHANGES made to my account and also a hard copy of each purchased transaction done via this particular card, not to mention a statement from the car rental place - to reimburse funds referenced to said card.
According to Walmart MoneyCard, it will take approximately ten days (10 days) for them to complete their review and should they find I am due a refund it will be disbursed accordingly. Various staff (telephone aids) have recognized this fraudulent behavior literally agreeing with me.
Currently there sits a balance of $86.37 pending from the car rental completely recognized monies due to me, the consumer. Walmart MoneyCard claims to have not received these funds back from the company who reversed the charges out right lie I have proof.
Walmart MoneyCard has stolen $147.00 from me; along with a new charge that's been recovered by them - this $3.00 monthly maintenance fee. Not part of my initial agreement with them.
Very clear, this is corruption!
Despite the minute dollar amount needing rectification, I will undoubtedly pursue legal actions against this company. There are too many innocent people about that don't have the pleasure of GIVING their hard earned money away. I for one am not going to make them wealthier by allowing them to STEAL from me or anyone else KNOWINGLY!
I beg all those who've been subjective to their current fraudulent behaviors to get in tow - we need to IMMEDIATELY collectively stop this behavior!!!

I purchased a walmart moneycard for a one time 25 dollar use.
After setting up the account on the phone I immediately called for the balance to see if it worked out okay,I was asked for my zip code then it ended there,it didn't match.
A wal-mart emplyee tried for an hour to resolve it with no luck.I filed a complaint with the ca attorney general and they sent me addressed for the office of the Comptroller of the currency.
I logged on at www.occ.treas.gov/
I filed a complaint there against GE money bank. Within hours I received a phone call with someone wanting to settle the claim quickly.I was told I would receive a check in 7-10 days.
Hope this helps someone. They also have a phone no. 1-800-613-6743

Never had a problem in over 5 years

I have been using the wal-mart money card for over 5 years. I'm actually on my 3rd renewal card now. In all this time, I have never once had an issue with not being able to get my money, usually within a matter of minutes. I've even loaded the card at a register and then paid with that same card that was empty before I loaded it there for merchandise from the store.
Most people who have problems don't read all the details about the cards, including holds, hold times and so on. They even have special notations for places like pay at the pump gas stations, rental car agencies and so on for those people planning to use their card in such a way. Generally, customer service is rather helpful and they do have a toll-free number you can call in order to file claims, reports of fraud, and complaints. They are genuinely helpful and will do their best to attempt to resolve issues.
I don't work for wal-mart or any of their connecting companies, nor do I work for the bank or any of it's connected companies, I'm just someone who's used the card a fair while and has never had a problem. No 24 hour wait - ever, no matter how much or little i put on the card.
Just because the company has issued a refund doesn't mean it's immediately available on your card. It can take up to 14 days to go from one bank to another bank and be processed and whatnot. That $3 monthly maintenance fee was with the product from the start, if the wal-mart employee didn't notify you of this, you should have read the papers that came with it. They only recently removed that fee, but until late last year, it had always been in existence.

WALMART NEEDS TO BACK THEIR CUSTOMERS!

Walmart SHOULD NOT participate in this "supposed" debit card SCAM any longer! If they're the upstanding company they claim to be, they REALLY need to clear up all of the issues concerning their "Money Card". I have read NUMEROUS complaints regarding these cards and the astronomical charges accrued without the cardholder's knowledge! Walmart should refund all the money owed to these customers and stand behind them. If they want to file a suit against GE Bank after providing this much needed customer service, then so be it! After all, it's their responsibility to their customers (ALONG with the fact that they allow or pay this bank to use the Walmart name on the card). The Walmart empire has the means (and responsibility) of arbitrating such a dispute instead of washing their hands of it and leaving it up to their dedicated customers. I will no longer shop at Walmart regardless of how far I have to drive or how much more money I may have to spend for certain items! It's time the public stands up to these large companies that claim they "look out for us", but never end up backing anyone when the need arises. BEWARE...cancel your card ASAP...

What car rental company was it

Hi,
I wish I had an answer for you. I was actually going to use this GE Money Card for a rental car next weekend and was curious what rental car company you used and how much of a deposit they put it on it. I tried to use this card at Avis like 4 months ago and they wouldn't take it.
I'm sorry for all your headaches with this but if you wouldn't mind helping me out to let me know which rental car company it was I would be grateful.
Thanks!
-Daniel
