We Clean America Breach of Contract Sherman Oaks California

I wish I had read this website before I got involved with this "company". And I use that word very loosely.

I too have had the same problems with them as other posters, except mine still continues with threats of Small Claims Court.

In April, 2007 I contacted them to set up a "whole" house cleaning. I explained that I wanted everything that usually doesn't get done by normal, once a month cleaning. Baseboards, ceiling fans, closets, everything. For my 3 bedroom, 1 bathroom house, I was quoted 8 hours "worth" of cleaning for $170.

They were late, as most others posted, but not outrageously, so I wasn't yet aware of the horrors to come. The first thing they did was make me sign their contract saying I wouldn't try to steal the cleaners for myself, and that I would, if dissatisfied with their service, allow them to fix the problem, not resort to stopping payment on my check. I then had to leave, and left them with my elderly mother to finish the transaction.

Instead of the two people promised by the company, three showed up and were at my house for a total of 1 1/4 hours. By my calculations, that means I received a total of 3 3/4 hours of cleaning. When my mother gave the woman the check, she looked at it in disbelief, knowing full well that they did not give me the cleaning I had contracted for.

When my mother called me to tell me they were already gone, she was livid. As many others posts claim, they did not clean floors, the kitchen, and only did a cursory cleaning on the rest of the house. As per their contract, they ask you to phone within 48 hours, but my FIRST call was within two hours of them leaving. I got their famous customer service at this time. Which was platitudes and the promise of returned calls. I called several times again in the next two days and always got the same response. Someone would call me back. One time, they did call, to the house number even though I specifically asked them to call my cell. They were rude to my mother and even more rude to me when I finally spoke with someone. But still no solution to the problem.

So, I stopped payment. THEN, I got a call. Only to tell me I had to pay them. I explained again that I would pay when they fixed the problem. And again, no return calls. I sent one last letter in an attempt to get things done, telling them they broke the contract before I did by not sticking to their word of a) inspecting the work, b) redoing the work or c) refunding.

Then, nothing. For one year. Until late July when I received a letter in the mail that they wanted $195 (the check and a $25 fee). Or they would take me to Small Claims Court and ask for the maximum of $680. And they would report me to the credit agency. Oh yeah, they claim they have tried to contact me several times to resolve the situation. Sure, they have.

I called again and told them they couldn't report me unless I lost in court, which hasn't happened. And that they breached the contract before I did, so don't count on a win.

I decided to send a letter stating my case once more and offer a compromise check of $75, which is still a rip off. If they cash it, fine. If not, I plan to have my day in court. And I will make sure that all the bad reviews get entered into evidence so the judge will know they are such a fly by night operation.
