Werner Enterprises Werner finds creative ways to shaft drivers Omaha Nebraska

I am an experienced driver who was hired by Werner om October 20, 2008. I hadn't driven OTR since January, when I wasfired from my last OTR driving job. Now I know if you've ever been terminated from a previous driving job it can be a bxxxx to get another one, but Werner said that it was no problem. Ok, good deal I thought. So i got bussed to the Indianapolis terminal, did two days of orientation, where i was once again reassured that the previous termination was not going to be a problem whatsoever. After orientation, they sent me out with a trainer for seventy hours as a "refresher course", no big deal. I finished that up and went to their Dallas terminal to be "processed out" and get my own truck. Got to the terminal October 31 around 7 PM, the guy in the guardshack informed me that i needed to see the safety department first thing in the moring. I didn't really give it much thought, just figured I'd get some sort of breifing that all the new hires get. So bright and early the next morning I got up and went in to see what was up, and the safety guy had me sit down while he phoned up the director of recruiting, who informed me that during my 70 hours of "refreshing", of whatever they call it, Werner had changed its policy and was no longer hiring drivers who had been previously teriminated from another major carrier- AFTER THEY ALREADY HIRED ME!! I asked why then if this policy was enacted after I was hired, why am I not "grandfathered in"? All
I got in response was "sorry" and a bus ticket home. I dont even know what to say to that, other than what a chickensxxx way to conduct business. So beware- Werner says one thing and then does another.
